SINGAPORE WEIGHTLIFTING FEDERATION Accreditation for Weightlifting Coach Privacy Statement The Singapore Weightlifting Federation collects this information for the recognition of prior learning. This information may be disclosed to stakeholders whom the SWF deem necessary. You have permitted rights to the information submitted to you upon request to the SWF in advance of 1 month. Recognition of Learning The RPL is the acknowledgement of experiences in skills and knowledge pertaining to weightlifting and its related facets. This may come in the form of formal trainings, work experiences and academic achievements on an individual. Details of such information should be presented as evidence to SWF to be assessed upon application. Applicants should supply documentary proof of their prior learning. These documents can include: certificates of coaching courses, relevant academic transcripts and certificates, references, projects and assignments, training programs, etc. These should include a brief summary of learning gained. Should there be an inability to demonstrate evidence for certain claims, the SWF may request for a demonstration of competence to fulfill accreditation criterion. This is up to the discretion of the SWF . To apply for accreditation, applicant is required to fill up the RPL table attached in this document and substantiate them with detailed documentary evidences of prior learning or competencies. Application fee consists of a one-time administration fee of S$50 and an annual subscription fee of S$30 upon successful accreditation. Procedure of Application The applicant must satisfy the prerequisites as stated in the table below to be considered for accreditation to the appropriate level. Applicants need to illustrate previous levels of achievements before they can apply for accreditation to be a NCAP Accredited Weightlifting Coach. Available to beginner enthusiasts and novice coaches, 18years of age and above. In addition to theory syllabus, candidate will have about an additional 4 hours of practical, focusing on warmup and basic lifts. These hours will be validated via evaluation forms. Certifies that candidate has the necessary skills to implement a progressive intermediate weightlifting programme and is able to fulfill technical roles during competition and/or athlete assessments. Must have completed the SWF Weightlifting Level 1 certification or equivalent. Certifies that candidate has the necessary skills to implement an advanced strength and conditioning and conduct weightlifting specific athletic assessments. Must have completed the SWF Weightlifting Level 2 certification or equivalent. Certifies candidate is able to fulfill technical roles during competition and/or athlete assessments at national level. Candidates who have completed the Australian Weightlifting Federation Club Weightlifting Level 1 certification or International Weightlifting Federation Weightlifting Coach Level 1 certification may seek SWF’s national endorsement as having attained the equivalent of SWF’s national coaching certification/pathway, subjected to the following criteria: Candidate must have completed the NTO certification. Candidate must have completed 20 hours of coaching. One-time administration fee of S$50.00 Annual Subscription of S$30.00 to maintain registration in SWF’s Register of weightlifting coaches (a list will be published in our website for public reference). Certifies that candidate has the necessary skills to implement an advanced strength and conditioning and conduct weightlifting specific athletic assessments. The candidate is also able to fulfill technical roles during competition and/or athlete assessments at international level. SWF National Endorsement and Coaches Registry Candidates may submit other certifications for review of equivalency and/or national registration per our Recognition of Learning policy. NOTES: Existing NCAP certified coaches will be required to complete the relevant SWF Weightlifting Coaching certification and vice versa, to attain a full NCAP/SWF Weightlifting Coaching certification. NCAP Theory and Technical Certifications together with a valid CPR/First Aid Certification are pre-requisites for registering on the National Registry of Coaches (NROC). Currently, aside from SWF’s Coaching Certification (Level 1-3), the Federation also facilitates the AWF Club Weightlifting Coach Level 1 certification (international recognition subject to respective NSA) as well as International Weightlifting Federation Weightlifting Coach Level 1 (Internationally recognized certification). Applicants have the right to appeal to the decision of the SWF, with the payment of $40. Their application will then be reviewed by the Executive Committee of the SWF, and may take up to 2 months to process. The decision of the Executive Committee of the SWF will be final. While a copy of the RPL review will be returned to the applicant, there will be no refunds for unsuccessful accreditation.
