National Export Strategy: Second Stakeholders’ Consultation
With exports being one of the key drivers for economic growth, the Government of Mauritius in 2014,
has approved the (development) design of the National Export Strategy (NES) with support from the
International Trade Centre (ITC). A first stakeholders’ consultation of the NES was organized on 25th &
26th November 2014 to discuss the current situation, challenges and progress pertaining to Mauritian
exports in light of global supply chains, sector-specific supply capacities and cross-cutting issues.
The ITC submitted a Strategic Trade Development Roadmap (STDR) which provides inter alia the initial
key orientations and recommendations of the NES and also priority sectors & cross sectors identified
through the consultation.
The National Export Strategy (NES) Core Team meeting
A second Stakeholders’ Consultation will be held on 17th & 18th November 2015. It will focus on the
analysis of sectors specificities including sector profiles, market trends/requirements, value chain
mapping /analysis, problem tree and root cause analysis.
Stakeholders will have the opportunity to share their experience, vision and challenges that will help
Mauritians move from a sector and organisation-centric perspective to a National vision.
