Kahnawake and Jersey Regulators Sign Mutual Cooperation

Kahnawake and Jersey Regulators Sign
Mutual Cooperation Agreement
For immediate release
01 September 2015—The Kahnawake Gaming Commission (the “KGC”) and the Jersey
Gambling Commission (the “JGC”) are pleased to announce that in light of the growing
globalisation of gambling services, they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding
(the “MOU”) to provide a formal basis for cooperation and coordination between the two
regulators.
The MOU will include arrangements for the acquisition, exchange, handling, protection
and use of information and, where appropriate, operational co-operation between the
KGC and the JGC with respect to the activities of companies or persons engaged in the
provision or use of gambling facilities of relevance to either regulator.
“This is a welcome development - it’s increasingly important for gambling regulators to
work together, not just to share best practice, but in a practical sense. Formalising this
relationship demonstrates our recognition of the international nature of the online gaming
industry, and our commitment to being a responsible member of the global gaming
regulatory network”, said Dr Jason Lane, Chief Executive of the JGC.
“We are convinced that it benefits both players and the online gaming industry to
enhance the level of cooperation between and among online gaming regulators and to
this end, we are very pleased to have formalized a relationship of mutual cooperation
with the Jersey Gambling Commission”, added Mark Jocks, Chairperson of the KGC.
The MOU is effective immediately and will continue in force unless and until terminated
by either party.
