BACKGROUND: Stamford Public Schools put a strong emphasis on reading. Northeast Media Specialist
Deborah Gerber goes one step farther by inviting authors or celebrities to read to students. In an effort
that may interest more young boys in reading and generate excitement about the upcoming Family
Hockey Day, the Sound Tiger hockey players will serve as guest readers at the school. Family Hockey
Day, which is scheduled for December 4, will feature Northeast student singers during an intermission
performance. Families can purchase discounted tickets at the arena for the game.
