ORATIA UNITED AFC ACADEMY PROGRAMME 2013 Director Of

ORATIA UNITED AFC
ACADEMY PROGRAMME 2013
Director Of Football: Steve Cain
GoalKeeping Coach: George Smith
Qualified Coaches: Tommy Cain
The philosophy of our academy training is aligned with New Zeland Footballs’ Whole of
Football grassroots development programme, with the emphasis on learning through small
sided games. The Whole of Football plan can be viewed on www.nzfootball.co.nz, under
Development.
By participating in the academies and through the Player Pathways, recommendations can
be made for the Northern Football Federation, Skill Centres and New Zealand Football,
National Training Centres.
All recommendations through to these centres for 2013 will be by consultation and approval
with our Director of Football Steve Cain.
The Player Pathways can be viewed on our website at www.oratiaunited.co.nz.
Ideally all of our players in the top teams at their age group level should enrol in the High
Performance Academy. This gives them the opportunity to extend their contact time and
improve areas of their game that are not generally addressed in team training
environments.
The success of the Academy over the last few years is reflected in the number of players in
our target groups, now mainly in 11th 12th and 13th grades, being selected for the Northern
Football FTC squads.
We now move in to another cycle and are looking to help the next wave of young players to
gain representative status.
For players in the Development Academy the opportunity to improve their skills and
understanding in an enjoyable and user friendly framework is ideal.
Definitions:
High Performance:
High Performance Academy is for players interested in moving on to higher levels of the
game from 7th through to 14th Grades.
Development Academy:
The Development Academy is open to every other player in all teams from 7 th through to
14th Grades. This can include players who want to improve their skills and understanding,
players who need some extra work and those who simply enjoy being a part of things and
playing the game
Girls Academy:
In line with our club philosophy of actively promoting girls playing in all girls teams where
possible, we are looking to encourage an Academy training group run along the same lines.
The sessions will be tailored to the specific learning requirements of young girls. The aim is
to foster a positive and user friendly environment aimed at maximising the development
potential of our girls. Girls only training groups will encourage them to be comfortable and
to learn at their own pace.
This will be for all girls from 7th through to 14th.
