This is an adult led activity targeted towards meeting 40-60 months in moving and
handling. As each group completes the activity plot their names in the table below, when
complete a whole class overview will show any key next steps needed to improve further
development.

groups of 4 children.
Activity:
Work in a small groups 4 children. Explain that we are going to be practising our ball
skills. Demonstrate how to kick a ball to our partner, emphasis not to kick the ball too
hard/soft. Now allow the children to kick the ball to their partners. Now set up a
goal using some cones. Can they try and aim the ball into the goal. Allow the children
to explore kicking the ball from different distances from the goal. Are they able to
control the ball? Extend by controlling the ball in and out of cones (vary the distance
between the cones to suit ability).
