Campanelli, President Page | 2 2017 National JA Titan Virtual Competition Logistics Key points to keep in mind for the competition: 1. A $12 minimum price is required during the competition. Prices below this level are unwise and unprofitable because of production costs, and often are used only to sabotage fellow competitors. Teams that use this strategy will not be eligible for prize awards regardless of PI finish. 2. Credit limit will not be announced in advance. Know where to find this information when the game begins. Teams can only submit decisions from one IP address per decision. 3. Teams can only submit decisions from one IP address. Judges can determine if decisions are coming from multiple computers. This lack of integrity will cause automatic elimination from the tournament. 4. Teams should use the username and password provided and confirmed by the Competition Administrator. A confirmation email will be sent prior to the start of the competition to the information provided on the registration form. 5. The game will begin (Qualifying Round) when the countdown timer reaches zero at 12:30 p.m. EST Wednesday May 10, 2017. 6. Winners will be determined by highest PI. In the case of a tie, the value of Retained Earnings in the final quarter will be used to determine the winner for each of the Qualifying Rounds and the Champion Round. 7. Quarters will be reverted ONLY if it is determined by the game administrator there was a technical error that caused a quarter to skip. Quarters will not be reverted due to user error. User error is when a mistake is made by the team members. Examples of these type of errors that have occurred and are, but not limited to: users close out of the game before they receive confirmation that their plan was processed, users forget to press submit, different users on the same team enter different plans from different URL addresses. Students may participate from any location with a high-speed Internet connection. It is strongly recommended to use a facility where JA Titan has been used previously to ensure connectivity and to address firewall issues. A firewall issue is NOT an acceptable reason to extend time for a decision. 8. Bankrupt teams will not be considered for cash awards despite their placing in the tournament. If you experience any technical problems during the competition, please take the following corrective steps: Close and re-open your browser window. Log back into the competition. Double-check that your Internet connection is working by visiting another website. A practice round is established to help identify computer connectivity errors prior to the Qualifying Round.
