Administering the CoAlt Assessment:
• Student is presented with three or four answer options
• Represent prompt at level four only when the student
does not respond
• Student will work with item until the correct answer is
received or maximum attempts is reached
• CoAlt Test Examiners may NOT reword prompts
• An additional prompt is included to engage the
student at level three
• Only one data point is recorded

• For all test materials before, during, and
after test administration.

Procedures for the CoAlt Administration
Test Materials and Task Manipulatives
• For each subject, test books will have two unique
forms:
– Form 015
– Form 025
• Each student must be assessed with the same
book and corresponding manipulatives.
• Task manipulatives shrink-wrapped with each
test book must be used with that specific test
book.
• Keep test materials that were shrink-wrapped
together.

Test Materials and Task Manipulatives continued
• Write the student’s full name on the cover of the test book.
• Write the student’s full name with a black marker on the
secure return envelope.
• Cut apart the option cards for each performance task.
• Paper clip the cut-apart option cards to the corresponding
student response page, then store them in the secure return
envelope.
• In between testing sessions, task manipulatives need to be
stored in the secure return envelope.
Keep all materials together throughout the test administration.

Use the picture symbols provided, except when the
student:
• needs to use objects rather than pictures
• needs pictures of real objects rather than drawings,

• the student has a personal lexicon with a specific
representation for the concept or words in the
student answer choices
— in this case, all answer choices must be from the
student’s personal lexicon

Test Layout
• Provided at the beginning of each test showing the item and
task sequence numbers of each form.
• Use to plan the number of sessions required for each student
based on the number of questions to be administered.

the test book.
They contain both a primary prompt and additional prompt.

Procedures for the CoAlt Administration
Supported Performance Tasks
• Supported Performance Tasks are identified as “Task ##”
within the test book.
• They are made up of three prompts related to an overall
task.
• These items require the student to manipulate option cards
by placing them on the student response page (e.g., placing
option cards in designated boxes within a chart or diagram).

• Select the Assigned Students option button.
• Select a student(s) and then click Assign Teacher.
• Select a teacher from the drop-down and click Save.
Removing a Teacher from an

• Select the Assigned Students option button.
• Select a student(s) and then click Remove Teacher.
• Click Yes-Continue with Removal.
Assigning a Subject to an

• Select the Assigned Students option button.
• Select a student(s) and then click Assign Subject.
• Select the subject and click Assign Subjects.

• Enter Student Scores in PearsonAccess

the Student Selector box

View Status Reports:
• Go to Online Score Entry > View Status Reports
• Click on the report name.
• Click Download to download the report in CSV format
