and members of the public to keep you informed of what is
happening at your local family support charity. We hope you

Celebrating our Volunteers!
The volunteer celebration event held in
conjunction with CVS and Derbyshire
County Council on 2/6/11 was very well
attended by our volunteers and a lovely
morning was had by all. Matt Ford from
Derbyshire County Council attended to
promote the new VCI Passport and County
Cllr Barry Lewis for Children & Young

thank you for all the fantastic work they do
with the Home-Start families.

Family Activities
Our family activities are supported by
South Derbyshire District Council. We
understand that our volunteers are not
always able to visit their families during the
school holidays so Sue provides a host of
different activities during the 6 weeks
holidays. This ensures that they have
something to look forward to every week,
which they can take their older children to
as well.

Upcoming Family Events
ACTIVITY/TRAINING
Overseal Gala. An event where we can publicise our scheme & attract new volunteers.
We’ll be making sock puppets & will have a tombola. If you are in the area why not
pop along and say hello, we would love to see you.
A walk around Conkers and experiencing the barefoot-walk! Bring a picnic!
National Play Day at Maurice Lea Memorial Park, Church Gresley.
Summer Picnic at Eureka Park, Swadlincote including team games and sports. Bring a
picnic!
Twycross Zoo trip.
Cook & Play at The Old Post Centre, Newhall. The adults get to cook while the
children play and then share their cooked delights with their children afterwards.
Soft Play at Jungle Madness, Donisthorpe.

Home-Start AGM 2010/11
Thank you to all who attended and showed
support at this year’s AGM which was held
at The Old Post Centre on 24/6/11. It was a
very successful event and we have received
a lot of positive feedback. Special thanks
go to the Chair of South Derbyshire County
Council and to Heather Wheeler MP for
their support. It was our most successful

Accessing Home-Start Support
Any family can access our support as long
as they live in the South Derbyshire area
and have at least one child under 5 years. If
you know of anyone or you yourself are
experiencing a stressful time, then contact
our office for an informal chat about the
support we offer. It is completely
confidential. Please note, we will need the
family’s permission to contact them if you
are calling on a family’s behalf. We look
forward to hearing from you.
