WESTOVER NEWS New Faces We welcome 3 new faces to the surgery. Dr Ruth Faulkner joins the GP teams and brings the total number of GPs in the practice team to six three male doctors and three female doctors. Emma Caselli has joined the Practice as a Treatment Room Nurse. Claudia Greasley has joined the Reception team. Engaged Again? Will we ever find the perfect telephone system for our needs? Somehow I doubt it! However in February we installed a new system that is undoubtedly a few steps nearer. The benefits of the new system include: No more engaged tone! We now can receive and unlimited number of calls and you will avoid the need to continually re-dial You will be kept informed of your number in the queue and how this is progressing Lines open at 08:30 and all calls are answered in the order in which they were received. The queue of calls starts at 08:30 exactly but please note that any calls before that will not join the queue. Technology Really Can Help! I’m sure that from time to time we all suffer from techno frustration but it can also be a real help. It nows possible to book your GP appointments online and this could suit you better than the telephone (and avoid any wait for your call to be answered). Appointments are released for booking at 08:30 each day (the same time that the telephone lines open). You can also order your repeat prescriptions online. To use the online appointments or repeat prescriptions, you will first have to come into the surgery and register as an online user. Please bring some photo ID with you (eg passport or driving licence). All the onscreen instructions are easy to follow when you are registered and our staff will be happy to help with any problems. We also have a new website. You can find this at www.westoversurgery.co.uk Your comments and suggestions are, as always, welcome. Patient Choice of Face-to-Face or Telephone Appointments Westover gives patients the choice of whether the wish to speak to the doctor on the telephone or whether they prefer a face-to-face appointment when discussing their health - whichever you prefer. Sponsored MoonWalk in aid of Breast Cancer Kathy Stivey from Westover Surgery made a 26.2 mile walk through the streets of London on the night of 16/17 May. Setting off at midnight, along with 4 others from the Pink Wig Events Committee, Kathy took part in the annual MoonWalk, walking the course of the London marathon to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. In total more than £2,000 was raised. More information and donation forms are available at: http://pinkwigevents.org.uk/ What Do You Think?
