OAKLAND DIOCESE SAFE ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENT
The Diocese of Oakland requires that all volunteers complete the safe environment training.
ALL NEW CYO VOLUNTEERS MUST COMPLETE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING COURSE.
Coaches who were previously certified to coach CYO for the 2015-2016 school year are not
required to repeat the Safe Environment Training course at this time.
(NEW COACHES: To take the course on line: > Log on to the Virtus Website, www.virtus.org >
Complete registration (be sure to indicate “Oakland Diocese” and then select your parish/Catholic school)
and then take the course. > When the training is completed, print out the certificate. Bring the printed
certificate to the workshop. Please note: There is now a different training course beginning July 1,
2016. If you registered previously with the old “Shield the Vulnerable” course, to take a course you must
re-register with the new course, Virtus.
