TSSA SOCCER DIRECTOR OF SPONSORSHIP, ADULT REGISTRATION, ADULT EVENTS, AND MARKETING JOB DESCRIPTION Summary Maintain and develop sponsorship opportunities that promote and support Tennessee Soccer’s mission and goals. Plan, direct, coordinate, and manage all sponsorship opportunities, soccer marketing initiatives, all adult soccer tournaments, and other special projects. The Director must foster and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues in both the profit and not-for-profit soccer and business community. The director will work with the Executive Director and sometimes in a supervisory role with the other employees. They will at times assist in communication and problem solving with the membership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities – Sponsorships and Marketing Work with the Executive Director to develop a strategic marketing plan aimed at expanding the brand of TN Soccer in the recreational, competitive, and adult soccer communities. Approach, track, and secure potential/prospective and existing sponsors. Develop sponsorship outreach plan designed to meet Tennessee State Soccer goals for both cash and in-kind sponsorship. Create and update as necessary Tennessee State Soccer Sponsorship opportunities and benefits structure. Develop and negotiate contracts for Board of Directors (BOD) approval. Review contracts and sponsor information to ensure compliance. Oversee development and production of sponsorship marketing materials. Oversee day-to-day management of all sponsor relations, fulfillment of agreements, and maintain communications with sponsors. Maintain and expand relationships within the sporting and non-profit community. Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Adult Registration and Tournaments Works in conjunction with the VP of Adults (Board Member) and Executive Director. Oversee Adult Player Registrations with each adult club. Serve as Tournament Director for Adult State Tournaments (responsible for directing and supervising all games and related activities). Oversee tournament websites including content, updates, and administration. July 13, 2017 Develop application process and recommend fees. Develop and maintain yearly budgets for each event. Recommend tournament formats, policies, and long-range strategic development. Supervise communications with adult leagues, teams, coaches and managers regarding qualifications, applications, acceptances, team requirements and submissions. Compose and manage tournament forms for team compliance. Identify venues and negotiate contracts for use. Identify, recruit and train venue personnel. Conduct tournament specific training for venues and their volunteers. Author and update venue training materials. Procure tournament supplies and materials and distribute to venues. Provide support, assistance ,and expertise to league and venue personnel during tournament. Manage all tournament related administrative components. Maximize revenue opportunities for both Tennessee Soccer and partnering venues. Develop, manage, and oversee contracts with sponsors and vendors. Oversee all sponsor-related activities, including compliance, prior to and during tournaments. Negotiate contract and work with housing companies as needed to secure housing and maximize hotel revenues. Oversee development of all event related logos. Oversee t-shirt design, printing, distribution, and sales. Determine, solicit and administrate team and coach materials for distribution. Manage team check-in, including soliciting of volunteer support and all required activities. Maximize field and venue usage and place teams accordingly. Organize and post game schedules. Coordinate and work with State Referee Assignor, as well as local venue assignors to ensure that all games will be covered to the level that is both expected and adequate. Manage all game day operations including score reporting, points and tie-breaking, team advancement, communication of information and updates, elimination rounds, championship matches and awards ceremonies. Inform, update, and work with volunteer tournament committee members. Provide all post-tournament reports as necessary. Maintain accurate accounting of all income and expenses. Interface with accounting department to maintain reporting accuracy. Attend Adult Regional and Adult National events to promote tournaments where appropriate. Network and keep current on rules, industry trends, and developments. July 13, 2017 Adult Regionals Manage and support both teams and State Representatives attending the Southern Regional Championships including team registration and certification, hotel selection, form completion, eligibility verification, and more. Monitor and support teams during the event. Provide support and expertise for Regional Tournament Director. Qualifications: Possession of a bachelor’s degree, preferred, most preferable in sports management, business or a related field and 5 years of increasingly responsible professional experience, preferably in soccer club management in a supervisory capacity; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Soccer management experience recommended. Tournament, event, and marketing experience. Proven track record of achieving revenue targets. Proven management and leadership capabilities. Strong verbal communications skills. Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to think strategically. Ability to develop and manage budgets and prepare financial reports. Experience working with Senior Level managers in a corporate environment. High energy, positive, can-do attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail, high degree of initiative. Strong partnership-building and event planning skills. Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new accounts. Provide consultation to the Executive Director and Tennessee Soccer Board as required (BOD). A valid Driver’s License is required. Physical Requirements: Work requires the ability to visit sites, walk rough terrain, reach remote locations which may require using steps, ladders, unpaved pathways, etc., and carry heavy equipment.
