Who provides LearnConnect?
The content of the courses has been developed and will be maintained by an organisation called Learning
Seat who partner with content experts such as Lander and Rogers Lawyers. Established in 2000, with over
800,000 users, Learning Seat are Australia’s trusted advisors in eLearning, and backed by a consortium of
investors including The Riverside Company and The Wingate Group.
Why should I use LearnConnect?

How do I access LearnConnect?
To access the resource, go to: http://archdioceseofbrisbane.learnconnect.com.au/
You can also use the link from the LearnConnect page on AI.

How do I bookmark S.A.F.E. files courses?
Most courses on LearnConnect will let you set a bookmark so you can return to a favourite or current page.
The S.A.F.E. files are a little different – they do it for you. The S.A.F.E. files will remember where you were
when you left the course, and take you back to the beginning of the chapter you were on next time you go
back in and select ‘Load Bookmark’. If you select ‘Start from the beginning’ then LearnConnect will take
you back to the start of the course.

Who else has access to LearnConnect?
All Church Workers as listed in Aurion, our Human Resource Information System. Over time, subcontractors may be added to the system. Non Church Workers such as parishioners do not have access to
LearnConnect.
Certificates
Can I get a certificate?
Yes, all of the Learning Seat courses will provide you with a certificate on completion. Other courses that
are added by Archdiocesan trainers will be decided on a case by case basis dependent on the training e.g.
the update of a policy may not have a certificate attached.
Do I need to give my manager a copy of my certificate?
No. There is an automatic sync of LearnConnect and Aurion six (6) nights per week. This means that
Aurion will be updated with a record of all course completions for that day and you will be able to see them
recorded in MyAurion Self Service.
I have completed my training. Where do I view and download my certificate?
The best way to view and download all your certificates is by viewing them in your profile. This can be
accessed by selecting your name in the top right of LearnConnect. This will drop down a series of options.
One of those will be "Profile". Select "Profile" and you will be taken to your profile which also presents a list
of all your certificates.
Alternatively, if your certificate is also a badge, it will appear in your side bar. If you click that badge, it will
download your certificate.
I’m having problems accessing MyAurion Self Service to see my training records?
For difficulties accessing MyAurion Self Service, please contact the HRIS team at
[email protected].
Where can I find a full list of my certificates and badges?
Go to your profile page by hovering over your name in the menu bar in the top right of LearnConnect, and
you will be able to reveal a drop down menu that includes a link "Profile. Select the link to your profile and
you will see a list of all your certificates.

Enrolling in courses
Can I do additional non-mandatory courses?
Yes. If you are interested in a particular course you are able to enrol in that course and complete it in your
own time.
If the course has a $0.00 fee attached i.e. its ‘free to you’ you don’t need any permission to enrol and
complete the course.
Please note: Work time must not be used to complete additional courses unless you have made a prior
agreement with your Manager/Parish Priest as part of your approved development plan.
If the course has a fee attached you will need approval to enrol in it so please speak to Manager/Parish
Priest. Please note: you can only access work time to complete fee for service courses if the course is
part of an approved development plan.
I have to choose an Administrator. Who is my Administrator?
If the course you wish to do has a fee attached you will need approval from your Manager/Parish Priest to
enrol. You also need approval from one of the Archdiocese’s LearnConnect Administrators from the drop
down list. The administrators are:

My Manager/Parish Priest’s position is currently vacant, who can approve my
enrolment request?
If the course you wish to do has a fee attached you will need approval from your Manager/Parish Priest to
enrol. If there is currently no one appointed to that position, you will be given the option to select a
manager from a drop down list. The person you should choose is either the acting Manager/Parish Priest
or, if that person’s name is not on the list, choose the next most senior manager.
There is an event that I would like to attend, how do I register?
There are a couple of ways you can register for an event. If you have already been invited to attend then
you can select your session by going to the event page, or your calendar to select your desired session.
Your calendar will show you the events you have been invited to, and any action you are required to take.
The library will display a list of events and sessions that are available for you to register your interest.
Select the most suitable option for you. If a session is full, don't worry; you may put yourself on the waiting
list. You will be notified of session openings if they become available.

Does LearnConnect link to our Capability/Competency Framework?
Yes. Learning and Development representatives from the various areas of the Archdiocese (except BCE)
have been involved in aligning training courses to the capabilities and/or competencies required in their
industry.
Where does LearnConnect fit with our strategic direction?
Our objectives are to implement solutions that enable the development of our Church Workers; to achieve
the compliance requirements of government legislation; and to provide equity of access to all Church
Workers regardless of where they work in the Archdiocese.
Why are we using LearnConnect?
The Archdiocese of Brisbane (including Parishes, Centacare, ADS/ADF and other entities except BCE) has
introduced an exciting new, flexible, online resource that provides first class training that can be completed
at a time and place that suits you.
This will ensure that training delivered through this approach is consistent, equitable and standardised for
all Church Workers across the Archdiocese.
It will make training more accessible for all Church Workers and reduce the need to travel for training
purposes.
Logging in
I'm logged in, but how do I launch my learning?
The easiest way to launch learning is from your dashboard. Below your status bar on the dashboard, you
will notice a list of learning that is currently outstanding for you. That list will have buttons located on the
right side of each line. These buttons say "Launch", or could also be "view”. Select these to launch the
learning you have been assigned.
What happens when I forget my password?
Forgot your details? That's easily fixed. Simply select the link under the password field "Forgot your
password?" and follow the prompts to re-set your password.
You'll be asked to submit your username or email address. This will generate an email in your inbox which
will help you to re-set your password.
If you don't have an email address, or you didn't receive an email, then we suggest contacting your
manager or administrator for further assistance. Click here to access the help page for more information.
Where can I change my password?
You can change your password by hovering your mouse on your name on the right hand side of the
dashboard. Click on ‘Profile’. Click on the ‘Actions’ drop down list and choose ‘Change Password’.

How do I clear my browser cache?
At times, we recommend that you clear your browser cache if you are experiencing issues with
LearnConnect. Click here for instructions based on some common internet browsers.

Using LearnConnect
Can I access the LearnConnect page on the Archdiocesan Intranet from home?
Yes. The LearnConnect page on AI is ‘public facing’. This means that you don’t need to be using a work
computer to be able to access it. All you need to do is cut and paste, or type
http://ai.catholic.net.au/ads/wr/LearnConnect into your browser. If you receive an error that says
‘Authentication required’ just hit ‘Cancel’.
Can I view a full list of learning items and their associated tags?
Yes. By selecting the library link in your top menu you will be taken to the library page which contains a
short list of popular and alphabetical tags that are within LearnConnect.
Select the "view all" link and it will take you to the full list of tags. Selecting a tag will take you to a list of
learning items that have that tag associated with it.
Can I view all my upcoming and past events?
Yes. By rolling over your name in the menu bar in the top right of LearnConnect, you will be able to reveal
a drop down menu that includes a "Calendar" link. This page will show you all your upcoming events and
all the events you have been invited to. If you click the button "Past events", the list will update with a list of
all the past events you have attended.
If you'd like to go back to viewing your upcoming events, then click the button "upcoming event" and the list
will update back to upcoming events.

How can I search for what I need right away instead of navigating around
LearnConnect?
There is a powerful search field that allows you to search for what you need in LearnConnect. This is
located in the top right hand corner of the dashboard. Give it a try.
How much time will be allocated/paid to complete the courses?
The time as stated by Learning Seat on their list of courses. This ensures fairness across all Church
Workers and is not dependent on how long it took you to complete the course. The list of courses and their
duration is available on the LearnConnect page on AI.
How will I use LearnConnect?
Each year everyone in the Archdiocese will be allocated mandatory compliance training courses covering
topics such as Privacy and Harassment.
Sometimes these courses will be bundled together with another course or a policy document that you need
to read and verify that you have read and understood. We call this a program.
When you have training assigned to you, you will receive an email advising you of this. This is why it is
very important to ensure your Manager/Parish Priest has your current email address recorded in Aurion,
our Human Resources Information System.
When you receive your email, all you need to do is click on the link to LearnConnect, log in and the courses
you have been assigned will be listed on your dashboard for you ready to go.
I keep going to the same places in LearnConnect, is there a way I can re access
them quickly?
Yes. On the right side of your page there is a side bar called "Recently Viewed".
When you are repeating certain actions, they will be found here. You will find the last 5 actions performed
within the system.
I want a summary about all my completed learning, is this possible?
Yes. There are a couple of ways you can do this.
Firstly, there is the progress status bar on your dashboard. This will give you a visual status breakdown of
all the learning you've been assigned.
Secondly, at the top of the right hand sidebar, there is a "Your statistics" heading. Under that, you will have
3 different areas that are updated automatically, enrolments completed, average pass mark and average
time in courses.
If you would like to know more detail about your learning, we suggest going to your learning transcript.
You can also access your training records in MyAurion.
I want to know more about the course before I start it. Can I do this?
Yes. There are multiple ways you can access more information about your training.
You can roll over the title in the list. A pop up will display a summary.
To obtain the full training outline, select the Training title.
I would like to search for specific learning, where can I do this?
If you look in the top right of LearnConnect, you will see a search field that allows you to search within
LearnConnect. Any keywords you search for will find learning items that have that word associated.

I would like to view the most recently added and most popular library items?
By clicking the library link in your top menu you will be taken to the library page which will present you with
a short list of both the most recently added and most popular library items. If you would like to view a full
list, simply click on the "view more" link.
Is there a faster way I can sort through my learning?
Yes. By selecting each section of the status bar you can filter the list to show Completed, Incomplete, Not
started or overdue learning.
Additionally, you can select each column to sort your learning in ascending or descending order for each
column. This will allow you to find the learning you need.
Some of the details in my profile need to change, can I update it?
Not in LearnConnect. There is an automatic sync of LearnConnect and Aurion six (6) nights per week.
This means that any changes to your profile in LearnConnect will be overwritten with the information in
Aurion.
If you need to make any changes to your details, they must be done in Aurion.
What are all the little (?) icons?
The question mark icons (?) you see throughout the system are tooltips. When you roll over tooltips, a
popup will appear giving some very quick contextual help information. Tool tips appear next to page titles,
side bar titles and input fields.
What are my responsibilities as a user of LearnConnect?
You are not permitted to share your user account details with another person; once you have your user
account, it is for you alone.
As with any system access, you are responsible for keeping your personal login details to LearnConnect
confidential.
What if I don’t understand the policy I’ve been sent?
Please speak to your Manager/Parish Priest/ HR Consultant.
What if I feel I need some training on how to use a computer?
Please speak to your Manager/Parish Priest.
What is the coloured bar on my dashboard?
The bar is a progress and status indicator for all your assigned learning. This provides a simple and clean
list of learning you're expected to complete.
The bar is also a filter. By clicking on each section of the bar you can filter the list to show Completed,
Incomplete, Not Started or Overdue learning.
Additionally, you can select each column to sort your learning in ascending or descending order for each
column.
When will my completed course show up in MyAurion self-service?
There is an automatic sync of LearnConnect and Aurion six (6) nights per week. This means that any new
Church Workers or updated personnel details such as a changed email address will update LearnConnect
overnight.

Will work time be allocated for me to complete my training?
Yes, in the majority of cases your training should be undertaken during your normal working hours. Where
this is not possible e.g. because of regulations governing the service you are providing e.g. ratios of
workers to children required in Child Care Centres, your manager will advise you of the arrangements that
have been made. Any payment for undertaking training in your own time would be normal time.
Will work pay for my internet to complete training at home?
Not as a rule. Learning Seat has advised that no items in their course library should be more than 10MB so
any costs associated should be fairly insignificant. If training is undertaken offsite due to travel impacts
(e.g. you go to a local library or council office) where a nominal charge was incurred for the use of a
computer, this could be reimbursed under normal expense procedure on production of receipt.
Please note: you must have prior approval from your Manager/Parish Priest for a reimbursement to be
made.
Will you provide me with a computer?
No. Church Workers are able to access a work computer at their office.
All Church Workers in the Archdiocese also have access to a computer clinic at Stones Corner. This clinic
is supported by the Community Services Learning and Development team.
You can call Community Services Stones Corner to book time on one of the computers.
