1. Story
The story behind the game is inspired from the well-known Disney fairytale “Aladdin”. A universal
approved and known fact is that Aladdin likes Jasmine. We took advantage of the popularity of this love
story and based our game on these characters. Who wouldn’t want to help his hero or at least one the
favorite characters from childhood to win his sweetheart admiration?
In our storyline of the game, Aladdin finally decides to ask Jasmine out and on his way to her palace he
finds a field full of flowers. Everyone knows how much girls love flowers and so does Aladdin. He decides
to pick some flowers, but unfortunately the field is full of bees. Your role is to help Aladdin gather the
flowers without being stung!
2. Game play
The game kicks off with an explanatory image that describes how to control the main character and what
he is supposed to do in order to complete each level.
As this tutorial points out, use the A, S, D, W keys
to move around and explore the map.
As stated in the story, for this quest, Aladdin has to
pick up enough flowers for Princess Jasmine’s
bunch, therefore the action of the game happens
on a field full with roses, lilies and other kind of
flowers. As soon as our character manages to pick
at least 80% of the flowers from the field, he
successfully passes to the next round. The score
from the bottom left corner of the screen shows
his progress. Success however, comes at grater
costs and that is why, as Aladdin passes each level,
the number of flowers decreases and makes the
player’s goal harder to achieve. Use the P key to
pick flowers for the bunch.
Our hero should also be careful not to get near any of the bees that are trying to protect the
flowers. These are bees with special powers - each time Aladdin gets stung by one of them, he
loses one of his lives. Abu and Iago, also found out that when the player gets into the shadows,
he manages to escape the deadly stings of his enemy.
3. Technologies
The technologies used to create this game were:

The game was developed in JavaScript using different libraries to enrich the user experience. In the
process of developing the game we used a modular design, which favors future feature extensions.
Therefore, each character was represented by an individual class.
KineticJS, an HTML5 Canvas framework, was used to create high performing animations, layers, event
handling, etc.
For a fun experience sounds were added to the game. They are managed through SoundJS library.
4. Testing
The libraries used rely on certain specifications of HTML 5, which are not implemented by all browsers at
this point. We tested the game is Chrome and it worked without any issues.
In other browsers, minor problems were detected. Hopefully, at the point in which all the browsers will
align to the HTML specifications, the game will work without issues.
5. Conclusions
The idea behind the project was to create an intuitive and easy-to-learn game that would suite everybody
regardless of age, nationality or gender.
We have taken this project as a challenge. Each stage – from developing the game from scratch to image
processing, sound and animation enhancements – turned out to be a perfect occasion to gain new
knowledge or to improve already existing skills. We consider it to be a success and we invite each and
every one of you to see how well you know your ways to a woman’s heart. Enjoy!
