Cricket is England’s national sport. It is played throughout the world, particularly in Australasia, the Indian
sub-continent, the West Indies and South Africa. It is a game with a bat (‘the batsmen’) and ball (‘the
bowlers’) and involves two competing sides (teams) of 11 players. The game is played on an oval field, which
has a rectangular are in the middle known as the pitch. The pitch is 22 yards long.
The game’s main objective is for the bowlers to get the batsmen out.
To conclude, many people in the UK are interested in the game, but foreigners seldom understand the rules.
