Unfortunately the school can no longer art, recorder andvery ukulele club. Ukulele club will continue for the (A returns box is in the school office) summer term as Damoyn has kindly offered to run the club with no charge to the school. Football and homework clubs will continue to run as normal. Use of the Astro-turf after school – Consultation – Parent Feedback required The FOMG committed £8,000 for our astro-turf pitch. The children love playing after school and I feel it supports our community ethos. However, following an incident before half term, I would welcome your feedback & comments about this issue – Do you feel that the children should be allowed to play football after school. If parents could complete the comment slip at the bottom of this newsletter and return back to school I would be very grateful. Many thanks. Edwards and Blake Catering Our lunchtime experience has now been radically transformed. We have had a re-organisation of lunchtimes: tables set out with new tablecloths, bread baskets and water jugs on the table. China crockery for all KS2 pupils and new signage around the hall area. There is also a new exciting packed lunch option (pick and mix). A free parent taster session is being organised in the form of a coffee morning on Friday 12th May 2017 and we really hope as many parents as possible will attend this. School of Sanctuary As a school we are committed to being a safe and welcoming place for all and engaging with the local community to promote these values. With this in mind, we are aiming to become a School of Sanctuary. Schools of Sanctuary is a nationwide initiative to celebrate the good practice of schools who welcome asylum seeking and refugee families and foster a culture of welcome and inclusion for all. Schools of Sanctuary help their pupils, staff and wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of the school community. We have recently joined Norwich Schools of Sanctuary which is a county-wide network of schools. We hope to be amongst the first group of schools in the county to achieve School of Sanctuary status and will keep you informed of what we are doing to achieve this in the coming months. If you would like to find out more about Norwich Schools of Sanctuary, please visit the website: www.norwichschoolsofsanctuary.org Language of the Half Term This initiative celebrates different languages, especially those ones spoken within our school community. All the children will be learning to say basic words and greetings in British Sign Language this half term. We are very proud that our school community is so rich in languages and we hope that you will enjoy learning any new signs that your child might come home and share with you.
