At this meeting we discussed the level and aspirations of Careers Education at each school. This varied considerably, from little or ad hoc Careers Education, to formal inclusion of a specified Careers Education Program within the school timetable. All schools were represented at the meeting, Principals discussed the membership obligations of the cluster, including financial and reporting responsibilities. Roles and obligations were set out for practitioners and coordinators for the stages of Career Education at their individual schools. This has proved very beneficial with all Principals supporting their staff. The concept of networking within our cluster to improve outcomes for all students has been established over the Midwest cluster. Goals and Targets shared by the Cluster Raise the level of awareness of the latest developments in Career Education Discuss latest developments at meetings Wanting to work with other schools within the cluster to try to streamline the delivery of Career Education Programs to improve student learning outcomes Regular meetings to network and map progress Improved student learning outcomes Regular visits between schools to share expertise and celebrate successes Share resources and ideas so that we are all aware of where to tap into resources and can access help from localized teaching staff that have become ‘specialists’ in Careers Education delivery D:\265329087.doc Develop a register of staff expertise and qualifications in Career Education Develop a Careers Education Resource Register Each school to report on resources held and utilized Each school gains awareness of specialized teaching staff who are willing to help them Increase ownership where required, some schools felt that staff need to take on more responsibility Raise awareness of Careers Education within such schools and among school staff Increase accountability of staff across schools (phases of schooling and learning areas for improved Career Education outcomes). Implement The Real Game Series and form a plan where students in the same years at different schools will have access to the same game. CELP funding to supplement purchasing of relevant Real Game for schools requiring game Increase number of staff trained in The Real Game series at each school, The Real Game series delivery to be streamlined to enable all students in the cluster to experience the advantages of all games Further develop and implement Careers Education, mainly in Secondary but also in Primary in DHS’s All schools adopt a Careers Overview matrix to develop, record and implement their programs Share the findings of our cluster with other schools within our district Schools Baseline Position As this varies significantly for each school, it is very hard to generalize for the cluster. All school coordinators will be completing the Careers Education Quality Framework within the next fortnight to establish accurate data about school programs. Students will be asked to complete a survey before and after using The Real Game to establish student baseline data and progress We will also monitor schools to measure any increased use of Career Education strategies Above Networking at first meeting. Right All Aboard …schools listing what we do now in Careers Education D:\265329087.doc Performance Measures An overview of planned Career Education strategies will be developed in each school A collaborative relationship will exist between schools in the cluster with Career Education networking benefits for all staff that are already or will become involved with this Project.
