SECOND SCREEN LIVE GUIDE PART II : Troubleshooting the Show July 22, 2013 SSL Training Video/ Little Mermaid SSL Guide Thank you for participating in the first time ever release of The Little Mermaid Second Screen Live. Second Screen Live is a new interactive experience where particular shows are booked for audience members with iPads, in order to experience The Little Mermaid in a new interactive way. Second Screen Live will provide the public with a social, competitive and collaborative experience. Consumers can download The Little Mermaid Second Screen Live App from the iTunes store (it’s free). At this time the app must be downloaded before arriving at the movie theater to watch the show. Once it is started, the app continuously listens to the surrounding environment and automatically syncs with the film and starts the interactive experience when it detects the audio fingerprint of the movie. At this time the app can only be used on an iPad (iOS 5 or higher). On future titles we hope to support Android devices, iPhones and other devices. Individual audience members play individually and as teams. Each user’s activity is scored, and the scores of all the users in a hall are tallied, and top scores are flashed on all participants’ screens. So, you will have a winner (or a tie for first place) at every show. Before you begin troubleshooting the show, please make sure you have read and followed all setup instructions included in: Second Screen Live Guide – PART 1 : Before the Opening – WiFi Array Set-Up Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures: The Little Mermaid Second Screen Live Guide Page 2 Customer Support The DCP and KDM operate just like a regular movie. The iPads sync automatically to the audio from the movie. Unfortunately, we only support iPads or iPad minis with iOS version 5.0 or higher. THE APP MUST BE DOWNLOADED BY CUSTOMERS BEFORE THEY GET TO THE THEATER. The app can be downloaded from the iTunes App store. Just search for: “Little Mermaid Second Screen Live”. If someone has a problem with their iPad: Are you connected? If an audience member can’t connect, they need to open the Wi-Fi setting on their iPad and connect to “sslive1”. If they do not have the app, they will need to go to the nearest Wi-Fi access location or 3G access point and download app in the iTunes store. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures: The Little Mermaid Second Screen Live Guide Page 3 For the Customer To connect to Second Screen Live in the iPad or iPad-mini: [Open up settings, make sure Wi-Fi is on, and select “sslive1” from the available options] [Turn brightness all the way up, and turn off multi-tasking gesturing. Make sure your volume is turned all the way up as well] [Start the app and press Set-up] [That's it, Ariel will take it from there!] At the end of the movie, all the iPads will show the top five scorers along with the user’s own score. So the person who has the #1 score can prove it in order to receive their prize by showing their iPad which will have their individual score and name matching in the top five list. Questions? Exhibitor FAQs The Experience relies on a standard DCP (instructions included), a Wi-Fi Array, and the guest’s iPad with the Little Mermaid Second Screen Live App installed. The user need only connect to the Wi-Fi Array named sslive1 within the auditorium. They will be taken through the setup when the film starts. sslive1 does not connect to the Internet, so the guests will need to install the app prior to arriving. The app will sync to the experience through audio recognition. If their device is defective and does not connect to the Wi-Fi Array, they can still participate in the experience - their score may be inconsistent with the rest of the group. All the games and activities will behave normally with or without Wi-Fi connection.
