The School of Social Sciences, Singapore Management University, invites applications
for a faculty position at Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor
rank primarily to teach Critical Thinking (either Analytical Skills or Critical Thinking in
the Real World). Experience in teaching Moral Philosophy, Applied Ethics or Political
Philosophy would be an advantage.
The position requires a doctorate in Philosophy and teaching experience at tertiary
level. We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated excellent teaching ability, as
well as a good research background.
The primary responsibility of the candidate is to teach undergraduate students. The
normal teaching load is four to six course sections per academic year, which is
approximately six to nine hours of teaching per week for each semester. In addition
to teaching, the candidate is also expected to engage in research and perform
internal service activities such as curriculum design and review.
Singapore Management University is committed to an interdisciplinary and
integrated curriculum, providing opportunities to work with faculty across the social
sciences and professional schools. The research support is excellent, salary and
benefits are highly competitive. Classes are capped at no more than 45 students.
Full evaluation of applications will start from 1st February 2017. Interviews for shortlisted candidates are likely to be conducted in mid-February 2017. The successful
candidate will be expected to start at Singapore Management University in August
2017.
