Primary Roles: To contribute to the fair and equitable selection of players nominated for trials as per Selection Policy. To contribute and assist with feedback to unsuccessful players if required. To support team in whatever way as may be required. Term of Role: This role has a one year tenure. (Part-time part-year) Continuity for the role could be an option for 2015. Key Tasks: To attend club and/or competition games to view nominated trialists Expected Outcomes: To liaise with appointed team coach regarding trial processes and procedures. Act in the best interests of NNC at all times. In conjunction with other selectors view as many games as required to ensure fair and equal time spent observing all players nominated by clubs for age group representative team trials. To attend trials and/or games/sessions and any other scheduled programme events leading up to final team selection. Be conversant with selection policy and procedures of Nelson Netball ensuring all players receive fair and equitable game time. Attend all scheduled trials ensuring selection process is fair and equitable. Be fair minded and objective and be able to support opinions with documented information, and make professional judgments. Ensure that NNC, members, sponsors or others associated with it are not bought into disrepute as a result of any actions or comments made by you. Attend any functions, meetings or invitations in conjunction with the appointment or which involves the team. Do not use your appointed position as an inducement or enticement for players to be drawn to any club or Centre team you may be involved with. PERSONAL SPECIFICATION Qualifications: Previous coaching and / or team selecting experience Skills/Experience: Knowledge of netball at level of selection Ability to recognise various elements required to make an elite netballer Ability to read player contribution to a game, identify strengths and weaknesses Ability to be fair and equitable to all trialists Ability to prepare player profiles on skills and abilities Ability to ensure ‘best fit’ for team when completing team selection.
