Dear player,
Below are some suggestions and information, to make your larp experience as good as possible and
to assure a smooth and problem free event.
Arrival
Please be in check-in on time! This year’s check-in will be conducted together with weapon check
and right at the gates. Official start at 17:00 and end at 21:00.
Thursday is the arrival and opening day. There will be no major battles on Thursday but the game will
start with the opening ritual. After that the game area is for your character to explore. So dress up
and bring your weapons or gear. Opening ritual will begin at around 21:30 with a gathering in the
parking lot, before the gates. Come and support your host.
Please DO NOT enter the game area before 21:00, preparations will still be going on and we would
like to get everything nice and neat - for you.
Check-in is ticket based, please be sure to have your ticket with you. The tickets are not named and
can be resold so we have no way of verifying that you have a ticket if you don’t bring it with you. In
check-in your ticket will be exchanged for an armband and food stamps will be issued (if applicable).
There are different colored armbands for adults (over 18 years) and minors (under 18 years). Be sure
to bring an ID with you to verify your age.
Every participant will have to check-in himself, group check-in is not possible!
If you are less than 16. Years old, please make sure that you have your parental agreement with you
in check-in. The agreement must be filled and signed, you can download the form here:
http://www.ancalagon.ee/fil/parental_agreement.pdf If you do not have a signed agreement, you
can not participate in the event.
Camping
Out of game camping place is on the left side of the entrance, behind the gatehouse. If you are the
first, game masters will show you where to set up, if not then put your tent next to others. Be as
compact as possible. Camping anywhere else than the designated spot is only allowed with the
Express permission of the main organizer (no on else can give that permission)!
It is forbidden to build a fire, set up pavilions, furniture etc. next to out of game tents. Camping place
is only for sleeping and sleepers. Quiet hours apply to camping place and even during daytime the
activities there should be kept to a minimum.
If you do have pavilions or in-game tents with you, that you wish to use in-game, please consult with
the game masters about them. Be advised that the appearance of your gear is a major factor
whether or not it is allowed outside the tent-camp and hence in-game. If you are not part of a player
camp, then you can pitch your (AUTHENTIC) tent in the Freetown if you wish to. This is a separate
camp in the in-game zone.
Please make sure that your tent is waterproof, if you have any doubts at all, bring along an additional
plastic sheet that you can lay on top of the tent. Although it is high summer, there might be
thunderstorms or sudden gusts of rain. Every player must have a sleeping place in a tent, you are not
allowed to camp in the castle or in the building behind it!
Since the event was moved a month forward this year, it will be A LOT warmer than usual. So warm
clothes are pretty much optional. You may still want to bring some rain protection however, even if it
is modern. The most important part in dealing with bad weather, is being prepared and having the
correct (positive) attitude.
Fires
The area is dry and there is a fire hazard. Care should be taken with live fire (even cigarettes etc.)
There are two official public places for making fire/cooking in the white zone. In front of the tavern
and in front of the tipi, before the castle.
All other fire and/or grill usage must be coordinated with the game masters. Even if you get a
permission, you can build a fire/grill only on a raised platform that leaves the ground (including
foliage) underneath the fire UNTOUCHED. There should be no mark whatsoever on the ground after
you build a fire. The coals and ash from your fire must be disposed into one of the two official fires.
Under no circumstances should you throw coals into trash bags or just in the bushes – forest fires are
a very real danger this time of year.
Please do not build fires that have not been coordinated with the main organizer (not just any GM or
REF you run across). There should be NO random fire locations or burn marks on the ground. Even if
there are burn marks already present – but the site is not approved – please DO NOT build a fire on
top of it. We can’t stress this point enough, it is a major problem the owners of the place have with
us and we WILL be fined for your mistakes – not cool.
Food
This year the organizers will not be providing food for players. Everyone must organize catering for
themselves.
Drinking water is still available from us and is located next to the gatehouse. Organizers will not be
providing water stations in other places (that includes the in game tavern).
Since this year there will be no kitchen team to supervise water distribution we would like to
emphasize once more – DRINKING WATER IS ONLY FOR DRINKING! Please do not use it to wash
hands or dishes nor let it run needlessly.
Of course it is permitted to fill water canisters for your camp but use the same principle. Camp water
is only for drinking as well. Please do not waste it!
Quiet hours
Quiet hours apply for the blue zones on the game area (tent camp, toilets). The white and red zones
(rest of the game area) won’t have the game stopped.
Please be considerate however when engaging in activities in red zones near blue zones – try to keep
it down. All forms of night time socializing should be done in the Tavern and its immediate
surroundings.
We want to stress an important issue. At one point the Tavern crew will want to turn in for the night.
They have agreed not to kick you out if they do but in return they expect you to treat the Tavern and
its surroundings courteously, not to litter, break or steal stuff.
For player camps the quiet hours (02:00-09:00) will mean that:

A Camp cannot be attacked or sieged by more than 20 people (the amount of defenders is
not limited)

Mana nodes will not be conquerable nor will they generate favors or victory points.

Valhalla may not be fully functional

There may be few GM’s in camp or none at all
Lanterns, lights and game relics
To create a nice ambience we have used a lot of lanterns, torches and candles. PLEASE do not
remove them or take them with you (even when going „back to camp for a bit“ or „to the toilet“), we
have had a lot of trouble with people just walking off with carefully placed lighting equipment.
If the lantern, torch or candle isn’t yours – please don’t touch it!!
On the same note, in-game items, relics and props ARE NOT souvenirs, please return them during
check-out, at the latest.
If you run across decorated areas, please don’t break them! They are there for everyone to enjoy and
probably important plot locations. Feel free to explore however. If you wish to remove some in-game
items from their location, consult a GM. Role-players tend to be „moving medieval magnets“, picking
up everything that isn’t nailed down and ending up with a knapsack full of crap. Just because
something IS there doesn’t mean you should „acquire“ it.
Some important plot items may have a relic card with them. It is a white oblong, with information on
it, that should be kept with the relic. If you acquire such an object ALWAYS inform the nearest GM
that you have it (we’d like to keep track of those).
When moving in the role-play zones (White zone and Red zone) – the players are prohibited from
using modern lighting (flashlights, mobile phones etc.)! Please get yourself a nice lantern, torch or
candle to move in-game during the night.
Player camps
There are several player camps in the red zone. Entering and exiting player camps can ONLY be done
through the gate (that includes the occupants of the camp).
Real and physical destruction of camps interior or defensive structures is strictly prohibited. The
camps are props that have been built with great care, not temporary barricades. If the camp gate can
be opened from outside without harming it or you can enter the gate without opening it, you can do
it.
To capture a camp you must control the combat area of the camp that is situated right inside the
gate. Fighting between the tents and elsewhere in the camp is usually prohibited.
Blue ribbons on game area
This year includes more complicated magic. Blue cloth ribbon symbolizes a magical barrier! If your
character is not a wizard class you cannot move over/under/through this ribbon. Nor can you take or
pass items over it.
Rules problem
Please familiarize yourself with the house rules and game rules (on the game’s homepage). Even if
you are an experienced gamer (yes, we actually do know that a lot of you have never read through
NE rulebook).
Alcohol problem
Nordic Equinox is not a drinking party and never will be! Excessive alcohol abuse and especially
alcohol abuse by minors does not belong on this event. Participants who are troublesome in that
regard, will be sent home, regardless of time of day (participation fee will not be refunded).
Minors and adults will have different color wristbands. This is a quick and convenient way to make
sure who can have a beer and who cant. It is well within your rights to check the armband color and
discipline other players if need be.
The organizers reserve the right to destroy any and all alcohol found in minor’s possession, in
addition the minor(s) breaking house rules can be expelled from the festival grounds. The organizers
also reserve the right to expel from the festival grounds, any adult(s) supplying minors with alcohol
or condoning alcohol use with minors. If you have a problem with that, please don’t come to Nordic
Equinox!
Roleplaying
The amount of roleplaying content has vastly increased this year. This does not mean that you HAVE
to participate in plot driven roleplay but there are plenty of opportunities to do so.
Officially the plot roleplay will start at Thursday night (after opening ritual) and will end on Saturday
night (at the closing ritual). In addition to adventures organized by us, there are several player camps
and individual players who have taken it upon themselves to create adventures or fun activities for
other players.
So even though “monstering” is still open (you can drop your character for a bit and play a monster
or a creature) and NPC’s provide lots of entertainment – an adventurer would be well advised to
interact with different player camps and groups when looking for his next great escapade.
To wrap it up
Nordic Equinox is organized by volunteers who do not get any payment for all the hard work and
energy they put into this event. Our only wish and goal is to create positive experiences and provide
quality entertainment for both new players and veterans. The greatest thanks and support you can
give us is not breaking the rules we have laid out, being positive and enthusiastic. This will leave us
more time to focus on what is truly important – more action, roleplaying and epics!
Sincerely yours,
Nordic Equniox 2016 organizing team
