Mission East – is a Danish international relief and development organization, which works to help the vulnerable through: Humanitarian relief aid Development assistance Support to increasing capacity of communities to organize and assist themselves Mission East is looking for a professional ADVOCACY ADVISOR FOR “HEAR MY VOICE – EMPOWERING CIVIL SOCIETY FOR DISABILITY RIGHTS ADVOCACY’ PROJECT JOB TITLE : Advocacy Advisor, CISU PROJECT JOB LOCATION : Kulob with travels to Dushanbe and Penjikent, Tajikistan LINE MANAGER : Project Coordinator, CISU Project START/END DATE OF THE POSITION : August , 2015 – October , 2015 General mission: The advocacy advisor will support the above mentioned project partners to define needs and possibilities for the disability rights advocacy. He or she will also conduct a comparative study of the Tajik legislation and UNCRPD, assess the coalition members’ capabilities towards its aim, and organize long term training on advocacy and communication with policy-influencing actors. The advocacy advisor is also expected to develop, together with the project partners, a strategy document for the coalition to guide their advocacy activities. Responsibilities and Tasks RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS Responsibility 1: Make a good analyse the possibilities and pathways for advocacy on the rights of people (children in particular) living with disability (P/CWDs) in the country The study will include: Page 1 of 3 1.1 The actual developmental needs and possibilities found among children with disabilities - information to be provided by Mission East; 1.2 A review of the political context – to be done by the advisor; 1.3 A comparative analysis of Tajikistan’s country legislation and the UNCRPD to be done by the advisor; 1.4 Analyse among Mission East’s contacts what other coalitions their might exist already. Responsibility 2: Support the coalition of Tajik NGOS so that they effectively advocate on regional and national level for the rights of P/ CWDs 2.1 Organize the formulation of a strategy for the coalition(s) with involvment of all coalition members in the process and agree with them the outcome; 2.2 Organize the formulation of a multi-annual advocacy plan for the coalition for improvement of the rights of P/CWDs along with coalition members; 2.3 Assess the capabilities of individual coalition members with respect to the coalition’s aims and its functioning; 2.4 Write a support plan and coach the individual coalition members to get their organizational policies and processes in place in order to be ready for their advocacy work. Responsibility 3: Build the capacity of individual coalition members so that they effectively advocate within their sphere of influence for the same rights of P/ CWDs 3.1 Organize practical training on the planned advocacy activities – with hands-on tools, practices and action; 3.2 Give tailor-made individual coaching on advocacy practice for the involved coalition members.
