Objectives: This course shows how simple concepts reviewed in microeconomics, game
theory, industrial organization and econometrics can be used to analyze current economic
problems and guide public policy. The questions are investigated from both theory and
empirical perspectives.
A more precise syllabus will be provided before the start of classes, but the following topics
should be covered.

Natural monopoly and regulation. Regulation in an imperfect information world (9h)
Environmental issues and the pricing of externalities (9h)
Antitrust issues (9h)
Review and exam preparation (3h)
Prerequisites: Although the course will not use difficult mathematics, some familiarity with
game theory will be helpful. Course will elaborate on microeconomics and econometrics.
Evaluation: one exam at the end of the semester
