DWHS FRESHMAN FOOTBALL: What to Expect Freshman PARENT Responsibility Details 1 Team Parent 1 freshman parent for season Primary liaison between freshman parents + booster club to communicate key football information to parents & players Coordinate parents to bring food to Freshman assigned team dinners Solicit volunteers for various duties throughout season First stop for questions + provide guidance related to the football program. 2 Gatorade Donation – 1 case per player Collected at beginning of season at Thursday team dinner. Label with player’s last name & class (Freshman) 3 Team Dinners – Thursday Nights 2 team dinners hosted by freshman parents Typically pasta/meatballs Night before Varsity games Signup Genius sent to freshman parents to solicit volunteers to bring food, drinks, desserts and assist with serving/cleanup. 4 Game Day Drink / Soft Pretzels 1 freshman parent per game Home Games: ice 2 cases of Gatorade per game. Away Games: purchase soft pretzels (reimbursed by Booster Club) & ice 2 cases of Gatorade Distribute to players/coaches after games 5 Varsity Game Night (Fridays) 4 freshman parents per game Sell 50/50 tickets and game programs. 6 Whippet Discount Card Fund Raising Credit card sized cards listing local vendor discounts ($20 per card) Each player expected to sell 10 cards. Option: $200 check (payable to DWHS Football Boosters) and sell cards, give as gifts, etc. Can sell independently or sign-up to sell in front of local businesses with teammates on weekend afternoons. Aug 21-25 Freshman Summer Football Camp - 4:00-6:30pm at DWHS Freshmen DO NOT participate in Varsity summer camp. Aug-Nov Varsity Games - Freshman players DO NOT suit up for varsity games. Attend varsity games as spectator. - Oct 26 Homecoming parade: freshman welcome to wear game jerseys and walk in the parade with the Varsity/JV.
