Speaker Bio
Paul Alapat is currently serving as Managing Director and Head of
Quantitative Services at Amba Research. He has over 23 years of
experience in capital markets on both the research and trading sides.
Expertise spans sourcing and motivating skilled human capital, managing
research support to equity, FX and fixed income desks, mentoring doctorallevel recruits, interfacing with capital markets professionals, empirical
studies in financial economics, international finance, and open economy
macroeconomics
In the past, Mr. Alapat has served as Chief economist Asia ex-Japan with
Nomura; Regional Financial Economist with Lehman Brothers; Visiting
Professor at IIM Bangalore; currency trader with ANZ, Mumbai
He holds PhD in International Finance from University of California, Los
Angeles (1994); MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta
(1985), BA Economics (Honours) from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi
University (1983)
