Junior Achievement
EQAO Assessments
Our Grade 3 and 6 students are working
diligently on the Ontario Curriculum, to prepare
for the provincial testing. To help prepare your
child for EQAO, it would be beneficial to continue
to read with your child each evening for 20
minutes, give them opportunities to practice to
write and review their basic math facts. Please
help your child do their best by ensuring they are
on time for school during the testing week.
Thank you also for refraining from scheduling
appointments for your child during this time. The
Grade 3 and 6 students will be writing their
EQAO test during the weeks of May 23-June 5,
2017 (exact dates to follow). Access to the
bulletin is on the “Parent Resources” section of
the EQAO Web Site: www.eqao.com.
Ms. Schultz’s Grade 6/7 class has been
introduced to Dollars with Sense Program.
Community volunteers with JA concentrate on
the following:




How to protect yourself when shopping
online
Recognize different definitions of personal
wealth and prosperity
Plan and balance a project balance
Learn to invest money and the impact of
interest

Chess
Day of Pink
Congratulations to Ben, Grade 7, who won gold at
John McGregor Secondary School on March 28th.
This Chess Challenge was held in Chatham for
LKDSB students from grades 1-8. There were
about 20 players in the Grade 8 division and 10 in
the Grade 7 group. Michael, Grade 8, had three
wins and one stalemate. Ben succeeded in
capturing 7 wins and a single stalemate. Ben
advances to another competition on May 6th and
7th. Michael likes playing Chess because “It is
strategic, I meet lots of people and it’s fun!”
April 12th is Day of Pink Day. Please wear a pink
shirt to show your support for anti-bullying.
