Please note Half days are available for children aged 4 years and above and who are attending
reception year - 08.30 - 12.30 / 13.30 - 17.30.

Daily Rate
Members - (Full day) £20.00 or (Half day) £10.00 (08.30 - 12.30 or 13.30 - 17.30)

COURSE INTRODUCTION
An OFSTED registered playscheme that allows parents a chance to continue work during the school
holidays. You have the option to book your child onto as many days as you choose or alternatively
just book the whole week.
Your children will have the options to try different activities through out the week including:
 Swimming
 Dry sports
 Art & crafts
 Fun games
 Trampolining
The children will also have the chance to visit the local park (weather permitting), which located
adjacent to the centre. (Please note: A full risk assessment will take place before allowing the children
onto the equipment and both exits and entrances to the park will be monitored at all times by a
member of staff and MSC reserves the right to adjust the activities on offer e.g. during pool
maintenance etc).
ITEMS REQUIRED TO BRING
 Leisure wear (comfortable clothing ie track suit).
 Swimwear (optional).
 Suitable footwear (trainers).
 A balanced Packed Lunch (no food will be supplied at the scheme and there are no means of

refrigeration, so no perishables please).
Refillable water bottle.
Small amount of money for use with vending machine (optional).
Please do not allow your child to bring items of value to the playscheme, for example, hand
held computer games or items of sentimental value as Melbourn Sports Centre can not be
held liable for any losses or damage to personal belongings.
TO BOOK
To book places on any of the holiday activities, a booking form including medical questionnaire must
be completed and handed in at time of payment. Extra information on medical conditions may be
required. ALL COMPLETED FORMS WILL BE KEPT IN A CONFIDENTIAL FILE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
DATA PROTECTION ACT.

 Qualified at NVQ Level 2 level in play work or equivalent.
 First Aid qualified
All Play workers have had the following:

 Basic Paediatric First Aid Training.

Behaviour Management
We aim to work towards giving children an environment where they can develop self discipline and
self esteem in an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement.

Confidentiality Policy
The work done in the Activity Weeks will sometimes bring us into contact with confidential
information. To ensure that all those using and working in the scheme can do so with confidence, we
will respect this confidentiality.
Special Needs Policy
The scheme aims to meet the DFES code of practice on special educational needs. We aim to provide
welcome and supportive play opportunities for all children. If your child has special needs, please
discuss this with us. All children will have equal access to resources and activities.
Medical Policy
It is the scheme policy to not administer non prescription medicine. If your child requires prescription
medicine to be adminstered through the course of the day, then please ask for a form which needs to
be completed.

Course Conditions
Please read these carefully before sigining a course application form as they may affect your rights.
Application
Application for all courses must be made on the appropriate form.
Payments
All payments must be made when enrolling on a course.
Cancellation by Melbourn Sports
Melbourn Sports reserves the right to cancel any course without notice, and to vary from time to
time the scale of the charges.
Cancellation by customer
Only sickness that can be supported by a medical certificate will be considered for a refund or credit.
In case of a refund a 20% administration fee will be deducted. Please provide notification in writing as
early as possible.
Medical conditions or disabilities
Any medical conditions must be recorded on the application form. We may require written
confirmation that your doctor agrees to your child prticipating on the course.
Injury, loss or damage
All participants entering into sporting activity do so entirely at their own risk. Melbourn Sports, their
servants or agent do not accept liability for any personal injury (except arising from negligence as
defined in section 1 (i) of the unfair contract terms Act 1977) loss or damage to property, however it
is caused.

CHILDREN’S SWIMMING CRASH COURSES

Swimming lessons for children of school age that are: non swimmers, beginners and intermediate
swimmers. Please see below for lesson description.

08.30 / Red stage 1b shallow
Ideal for children at full time school who have had some water experience
08.30 - 09.00 Yellow stage 3a/b
Suitable for confident swimmers who can swim a short distance (at least 8 metres) without aids.
Lesson will take place out of swimmers depth.
09.00 / Red (Stg 1a Deep) – Ideal for children at full time school who are either non or weak
swimmers – Arm bands required
09.00 / Orange (Stg 2 Shallow) – Ideal for children at full time school who are confident swimmers
with the use of floats
