EMMS-AS Servo Motors and CMMP-AS Intelligent Servo Drive

EMMS-AS Servo Motors and
CMMP-AS Intelligent Servo Drive
Extended Servo Functionality
Intelligent Servo Drive CMMP-AS
The CMMP-AS is available as both
single phase (5A &10A) and three
phase (15A & 20A) drives.
The drive supports the EMMS-AS
series of absolute encoder (EnDat –
Single/Multi turn) based servo
motors that interface with a wide
range of Festo electromechanical
actuators providing scalable
mechatronic solutions – from a
simple single axis package to
complex kinematic solutions.
In addition to an absolute encoder
interface (EnDat), the CMMP-AS
drive also supports resolver
feedback and incremental encoder
input (linear encoder feedback) for
direct measurements.
High Performance Servo Motors
EMMS-AS
The EMMS-AS servo motors have
options for integrated holding
brake and external gearboxes
(EMGA) with gear ratios 3:1 & 5:1
are available for applications
requiring higher torque. The nominal torque range of the EMMS-AS
motors range from 0.2 - 20.05 Nm
with speeds up to 6000 RPM.
Basic Features:
• Intelligent positioning: position
set table (255 position sets) with
individual user defined motion
profiles, smoothing for jerk free
movements, absolute and relative
moves, variety of homing methods.
• Configurable I/O (10DI/5DO and
3AI/2AO)
• Variety of standard control
interfaces: digital IO, analog IO,
serial interfaces (RS232, RS485,
RS422)
• Linking & branching position sets
(no limit on number of independent
position sequences)
• Encoder interfaces - emulation
output and encoder input – for
direct measurement, MasterSlave applications (E-Gearing)
• High speed capture input – flying
measurement
• Integrated braking resistor
• Integrated EMC filter
Extended Functionality
• Torque limitation for each
position set
• Modulo-axis operation – reduced
cycle time in rotary applications
• Trigger outputs (4 position triggers
and 4 angle of rotation triggers)
• Wide range supply voltage 100230 V AC; 1 Ph. and 230 - 480 V
AC; 3 Ph.
• Integrated safety (EN954-1)
Category 3 (safe stand still).

Convenient Product Sizing and
Selection – Reduced Engineering
Time
The Festo sizing tool – Positioning
Drives – provides a convenient
method to size and select product
based on the application needs.
The user does not require in-depth
knowledge on sizing
electromechanical systems.
The CMMP-AS servo drive is
configured using the Festo
configuration tool (FCT) which is a
simple to use, easy to navigate,
well illustrated configuration
software. Tuning parameters for a
wide range of Festo actuator,
motor, drive combinations are
integrated in FCT, significantly
reducing engineering time.
Configurable diagnostics allows the
user to tailor the drive as to how to
respond to various errors and
warnings.
Festo Handling & Positioning
Profile (FHPP) is a simple
consistent data format used in
network implementation of all
Festo drives to all supported
fieldbuses.
