A WONDERFUL YEAR
CONTENTS
FOR THE CLASS OF 2015
After four years of intensive study, research, and career preparation,
the University of Chicago College Class of 2015 has graduated
and embarked on a multitude of impressive endeavors.
Throughout their time in the College, members of the Class of
2015 proactively took advantage of opportunities to expand their
knowledge and skills. Whether through coursework, internships,
research with faculty, study abroad, or the numerous other
opportunities offered on campus, the Class of 2015 was well
prepared to flourish after graduation.
By developing their talents with the College’s transformational
education and innovative resources, 93% of the Class of 2015
graduated with post-graduation plans in place. These include
working at leading organizations throughout the United States
and abroad, continuing their studies at some of the world’s most
respected graduate and professional schools, starting their own
businesses, and serving the greater good through organizations

HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING
From the moment they arrived on campus, the students of the Class of 2015 actively explored
paths for their futures by engaging with key campus resources.
MAKING CONNECTIONS
FIRST-YEAR ENGAGEMENT WITH
At every stage of career development, the Class of
2015 took advantage of one the University’s greatest
resources: its global network of alumni, parents, and
friends. Students developed strong connections
as members of the UChicago community hosted
hundreds of students at their offices, donated
thousands of dollars each year to fund student
career experiences, and shared invaluable expertise.
These meaningful ties have helped leave the Class
of 2015 well positioned to pay it forward to future
generations of UChicago students.
“ Of our 15 positions in Chicago, two went to
[UChicago], the only program other than Harvard
represented multiple times in our summer recruits.
We love Metcalf students and are excited to continue

“ It is important to note that UChicago
has done a great job of educating and
developing bright young minds. Which is
evident as we continue to hire more and
more of your students.
”
Over the course of their four years,
the Class of 2015 visited more than
35 cities in 11 countries on treks.
GETTING EXPERIENCE
After identifying their interests, the members of the Class of 2015 did what any good scholar
would do: they gathered information to test their ideas. The students were remarkably
successful in securing a wide variety of experiential learning opportunities that allowed them
to get direct exposure to their fields of interest.
The Class of 2015’s time at the College coincided with a period of dramatic expansion in the
number of internships, externships, and treks. The students’ proactive attitude together with
this significant growth made for a highly effective combination.

THINKING ABOUT THE SPECIFICS
Many students pursued their interests in particular career paths in depth through the
supportive structure of the “UChicago Careers In” programs. Through these expert-led,
pre-professional programs, students received individualized guidance on their career plans,
pursued experiential opportunities available in their intended fields, and connected with a
network of professionals currently working in those industries. UCI Business, for example,
placed 100% of its students in full-time positions, with starting compensation packages as
high as $120,000 in year one.

AB’15, ECONOMICS; STATISTICS ASSOCIATE
PRODUCT MANAGER, UBER
“Career Advancement has been extremely involved in
my professional development from the day I stepped
on campus, organizing activities like resume reviews,
treks to companies in the Bay Area, small group chats
with VCs, introductions to alumni in the industry, and
one-on-one meetings. [UCIE] in particular has always
been willing to lend an ear and share relevant and
impactful advice during my time at UChicago. I’m sure
that UCIE has guided me to where I am today, and I’m
thankful for all that they’ve done in both my personal
and professional endeavors.”
UChicago Careers in Entrepreneurship

AB’15, MUSIC; ANIMATOR
“My internship with the Spektral Quartet made possible
by UCIJAM was bar none one of the most hands-on,
relevant, and educational work placements I’ve ever had
the privilege of being a part of; it has opened up my
future plans immensely. As a direct result of the new
skills, knowledge, and experiences I picked up during
my internship, I am currently working full-time as a clay
animator for an education lab, continuing promotional
and documentary work with the quartet, and creating
an independent animated series with friends.”

“The support that I received from UCIPPS was
incredible. I would not have found or been able to
apply for my current position at a Middle East–focused
nonprofit in DC without the support of the UCIPPS
counselors and expansion of the University of Chicago
Public Interest Program. I learned basic professional
skills like resume building and interview tactics through
UCIPPS programming but, more importantly, I was
given one-on-one counseling that helped me navigate
the job market and application process successfully.”

“I think [Career Advancement] realizes that at
UChicago, students love to learn, and helps them
connect that passion to careers they find meaningful
and fulfilling. I’m glad that UCISTEM has helped me
connect my academic interests to careers that also
align with my values and goals.”
