GYSL SOCCER SIGN UPS
The Gridley Recreation Department will be accepting GYSL soccer sign ups for the fall 2017 league as of May
1st at either:
Gridley Recreation Department (Monday-Thursday 9am – 3pm)
194 Washington Street (in Vierra Park)
Or
City Hall (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm)

CHECK OUT OUR COACHING INCENTIVE: Any parent who volunteers to coach their child’s team
gets half off the registration price!
FEES:
$80.00 -for your first child, $75.00 for a second child with a $5 drop for every child after.
Regular registration will be from May 1st through July 31st.
Absolutely no registration will be accepted after August 1st. Teams will be
assigned that week and NO changes will be made.
ELGIBILTY: The league is open to any children in the following age groups.
U-5 (ages 4 and 5) Born by July 31, 2012-2013
U-7 (ages 6 and 7) Born by July 31, 2010-2011
U-9 (ages 8 and 9) Born by July 31, 2008-2009
U-12 (ages 10, 11 and 12) Born by July 31, 2005-2007
TEAMS:
There will be a change this year. Teams will be put together by random draw. To
accommodate the 350 plus children, the Gridley Recreation will not honor any requests for
certain coaches or children to be place with other children. The Gridley Recreation
Department will STRICKLY ENFORCE this policy. Please be aware! We will not be able
to accommodate ‘must be on this/my team for a ride’ requests.
UNIFORMS: Each child will receive a jersey. Each child will be required to have plain black shorts. Children
can play in soccer cleats or tennis shoes. Football cleats are not allowed!
GAMES:
Games are Saturday mornings generally starting the Saturday after Labor Day. Location is
Sycamore School. Games start at 9 AM.
COACHES: Parents, Friends, and Family members are encouraged to volunteer to coach in the GYSL soccer
league. Several coaches are needed. Experience is not required but helpful. If interested in
coaching, please contact the Recreation Department at 846-3264.
REFEREES: The U-7, U-9 and U-12 will have referees. Referees are needed for the league. Referees earn
$15.00 per game. If interested in refereeing, please contact the Recreation Department at 8463264 by July 10th. All referees will be required to attend a USA Licensed class.
*We are asking any parents who have any outgrown soccer cleats to donate them to
the Gridley Recreation Department’s cleat swap program. Any donated cleats will
be offered for players who need or can not afford soccer cleats.
