Lisa Braunhut

Dear Parents and Future 3rd Graders,
My name is Lisa Braunhut and I will be teaching 3rd grade this year. I am very excited to be
working with the students, parents, and staff at EDUPRIZE. I would like to take this opportunity to
welcome you and tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised in Minnesota. As a child I grew up
playing sports all year long. I played softball, basketball, ran track, and played soccer all the way through
college. I graduated from Minnesota State University in Mankato with a Bachelor’s in Elementary
Education, and this will be my 13th year teaching and my fifth year at EDUPRIZE. I have two little boys;
one will be 5 and the other will be 2 on September 3rd.
This school year we will be exploring four 9-week cottages. The cottages we will be studying this
year include: Aquarium, Desert Lab, Exploration Station, and Plant Nursery. Each cottage is full of
hands-on learning experiences that teach Arizona State Standards. If there are any parents who have
expert knowledge on any of our cottages, please let me know.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you at our Open House on Monday, July 24th! The
suggested time for our Open House is from 10:30 a.m.-11:15 a.m., but I will be available throughout most
of the day if this time doesn’t work. The Open House is your chance to see your classroom, meet your
classmates, pick up some important papers and carpool information, and drop off your school supplies.
Please print out Open House forms from the EDUPRIZE website and bring them to the Open House.
Please bring cash or a check in the amount of $6 for Scholastic News. Checks can be made out to
EDUPRIZE PTN memo line with student name. This way I can get everything organized for the first day
of school. Please email me at [email protected] to let me know you have received this
letter.
Our first day of school is Wednesday, July 26th. In order for you to maintain enrollment at
EDUPRIZE, you must be on time and be present during the entire school day. During Open House I will
let you know where our class will be lining up outside. On the first day, I will be outside to meet and
greet everyone. For the Regular Day schedule, I will be picking up students to begin school at 7:55 a.m.
and our school day will conclude at 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Friday our school day will
begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 11:45 a.m.
I am excited to get to know all of my students, and I know it will be an amazing year. I will be
sure to keep you informed of our activities and parent involvement opportunities throughout the year.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time. Thank you for
allowing me to be a part of your third grade year! I am so EXCITED!!
Sincerely,
Lisa Braunhut
