My friend Colette is getting married in a few weeks, and she asked me to help her create a classic
bridal makeup look to go along with her classic-style wedding. (You'll be seeing pictures of that
event in the coming weeks!)
Classic bridal makeup is all about romance: pink cheeks, softly defined yet sexy eyes without too
much shimmer (leave that to the lips), and kissable rosy lips. Classic makeup is not too neutral,
but it's also not too done-up. Wearing soft pink colors at your wedding will also help play up the
glow of your white dress.
The classic makeup look was done perfectly by Ivana Firestone, the wife of Andrew Firestone of
The Bachelor.
And surprisingly, rock chick Avril Lavigne went for the classic bride look for her wedding.
Here's how to get it:
Lids
Sweep Rare Silk, a classic neutral, all over lids and browbones to even out skin tone.
Use Exhale, a versatile mid brown matte shadow, to define your creases and the outer corners of
the eye. This shade is great because you can build it up for extra drama should you choose.
Add a bit of ivory-toned Good China as a highlight to the eyes.
Finally, define all the way around the eye, focusing on the outer corner, with Smokey eyeliner.
Cheeks
Cheekbones can get a bridal-worthy glow with Walkee Talkee, a rose shade with a little silver
sheen to it. Use it on the apples of cheeks only for a girly look.
Lips
Go for bridal looking lips by combining Pink Lemonade, a baby pink gloss, with Plum, a rosy
neutral. The combination of pinks looks great in pictures. If you go too neutral with your lips on
your wedding day, you risk looking washed out.
Even if you don't consider yourself a pink type of a girl, think about it for your wedding day. I
promise, you can't go wrong with this classic bride look!
