TRAINING OBJECTIVE(S):
The purpose of this training week is to introduce passing and receiving a ball on the ground with the feet. The warm up establishes the
proper technique for push passing and receiving a pass on the ground with the feet.
I. WARM-UP
Demo "push pass". Toe up, heel down, lock
ankle, strike the ball with the inside of the
foot at the arch, strike the ball at the mid line
to make the ball roll forward to hold the
ground. Have each player do 1 with coach
and then pairs. Demo how to receive a push
pass. Toe up, heel down, let ball strike inside
of foot at arch, absorb shock of ball to keep it
close. Have each player do 1 with coach then
in pairs.
Pairs must move with a ball to each gate. At
each gate on player on each side. Player with
ball pass ball to the other player. Pair moves
to another gate. Continue until all gates are
finished. Return to starting side. 2nd interval:
2 passes per gate. 3rd interval: 3 passes per
gate. If time repeat an interval.

20'x20' area; 1 ball per player; ~8 players.
1 relay team behind each start cone. 1st
player speed dribbles to the 2nd cone, turns
around cone and passes to the next player in
line. Receiving players actively receives the
ball and repeats. Team with the most reps
wins the race.

Gates: 20x20yds, 8-10 pairs of cones set up in pairs 3' apart (gate) randomly placed in the
area. Player pairs with 1 ball. Start players around area to separate.

Active Receiving Relay: 2 sets of 2 cones (4 total) set about 10 yards apart. Separate the two
paris by 3-5 yds. 2 soccer balls - 1 for each line/relay team.
COACHING POINTS / KEY CONCEPTS
1-passing techniques 2-RWB outside little toes & stride out 3-Controlled turn 4-Crisp pass to
receiver 5-Receiver actively moves to receive ball - don't wait for it.
2 player team attempts to score by hitting a
pair of cones at the end line. Rotate pairs to
play each other. Team with most goals at the
end of the activity wins.
Shots may only be taken by a team after it
completes 2 passes. This is reset after each
goal. May increase the number to 3 or 4 if
the teams can still score.

Half of teams wear pinnies.
