Summary
John Deere MyLogistics is a mobile solution for adaptive chain optimization
of interacting agricultural machines, including an agricultural navigation
system. By the help of a live fleet overview of all participating machines –
including non-Deere – e.g forage harvest or slurry chains can be optimized
in a holistic way. MyLogistics is offering a situation-related and machine
specific decision support for all participants.
Techcnial Description and Advantages
Introduction: The management of an agricultural business in a logistical
optimized way as well as job management are highly complex tasks
regarding the economic optimization. Time- and location based coordination
of machines and operators are a particular challenge. This case can be
found in harvest processes of combines and forage harvesters as several
harvest machines are connected to a number of transport machines,
whereby waiting or also standstill time of vehicles shall be avoided in order
to avoid losses.
In general the market is missing a holistic solution which optimizes the
logistic chain from pre-planning, over the live overview of the execution, to
the documentation of work processes and thereby not only decreases the
cost but also helps to reduce the social burden to a minimum.
The solution and its five main innovations: MyLogistics opens up a new era
of logistics and navigation for agricultural machinery as well as for the
optimization of logistic chains. Because of its mobile App character (Apple
iOS and Android) MyLogistics is usable on any machine, specifically being
designed for mixed fleets. For possible routes not only public roads are
considered but also dirt roads / extended secondary roads. Furthermore

additional information regarding pass ability is considered (bridge heights,
cross town links etc.). The MyLogistics App supports individual as well as
collaborative scenarios and offers after first internal test a 20% optimized
navigation to the destination. In contrast to the market and technology
leader LACOS FieldNav / Biomass logistics MyLogistics distinguishes itself
throughout an unreached degree of automation. A bunch of new functions
supports
the
operators
(situation-specific)
and
avoids
unnecessary
interactions (see intelligent functions).
Compared to the current state of the art MyLogistics offers:

Planning of harvest operation: MyLogistics is the first solution
on the market to offer a fully automated pre-planning function for
logistic chains. Therefore the farmer / contractor can choose his
fields and machinery from his master data / contractor software,
out of which a daily plan will be generated. This plan includes,
amongst other parameters, the optimal order for harvesting fields,
the optimal amount of transport vehicles depended on
the
distance to the silage pit and the field grouping in case of more
than one harvesting chain. This daily plan can afterwards be sent
to the operator’s mobile device.

Intelligent
route
planning
and
optimization:
In
synchronization with the MyJobsManager transport vehicles are
automatically navigated between the moving lead machine (e. g.
SPFH) and the silage pit. The destination take-over as well as the
calculation is done automatically. Effective, unmistakably, secure
and offline. Actively “think-ing” by algorithms it saves the
customer distracting input work and adapts to every situation.

LIVE overview: All fleet members, fields and jobs can be seen on
one map. Manager, dispatcher and drivers have the full status
overview about every fleet member the whole time. With this
information the right and most efficient decision is made at any
time.

With determination of the optimal field entrances and exits the
operator is always finding the right place at the right time, safely.

Mixed-Fleets and equipment independent connection of all
machines: By the use of smartphones and tablets MyLogistics

Safe navigation: Considering machine and road restrictions as
well as settings for potential night time closures, the driver’s

local
knowledge to find the destination respectively the lead machine.
In practice field entries mostly are not deposited in navigation
systems. The MyLogistics app recognizes this situation and offers
support to the driver to leave the street at the right spot. From
now on the MyLogistics app visually supports while searching for
the lead machine in the field. Furthermore towns and streets can
be closed for navigation to for example avoid noise at specific day
or night times.

Always available: Maps, stored on the device, ensure that the
app is independent of the internet connection. Specific agricultural
map material is ensuring navigation support until the field
entrance even on narrow dirt and forest roads.

Adjusted: By use of vehicle parameters (height, width, length
and weight) the specific challenges of agricultural machines are
considered. Thereby in combination with the specific map material
the route will be adapted to for example avoid highways. Of
course the navigation system can also be used for cars. A specific
profile can be chosen.

situation-related support for the whole fleet. So for example the
whole fleet is able to see the harvested area of the lead machine.
This makes it easier to find the optimal field entrance. Every user

Planning Ahead: The integrated tour planning enables an easy
creation of tours. Besides addresses also jobs as well as machines
can be selected as destinations.

time can be minimized in a tour and thereby fuel can be saved.
