Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
Does your bladder run your life?
Up to 3.3 million Canadians struggle
with some form of urinary incontinence
(UI), and about 33% of women struggle
with UI. UI becomes more common
after childbirth and with age, but this
change is not normal and can be treated.
Women with bladder symptoms can use the
bathroom up to 30 times in a day; the
average adult uses the bathroom 5-8 times daily.
Between buying incontinence products,
replacing clothing, and missing work from
time to time, living with UI is expensive
in many ways.
Besides the financial cost, UI can take
an emotional toll and decrease your
quality of life.
Main types of UI that can be treated
with pelvic floor physiotherapy:
Stress UI:

But did you know?
Women with stress UI who receive pelvic floor training
are 17 times more likely to report cure or improvement
than women who do not receive pelvic floor training.
Although many women are told to perform kegels, experts
recommend that the correct performance of kegels
should be confirmed by a trained professional using an
internal pelvic exam to ensure effective training.
