Proof of pre-registration (#2422) Author(s) Ángel Sánchez Rodríguez (University of Granada) - [email protected] Created: 12/20/2016 07:58 AM (PT) Public: 12/20/2016 07:59 AM (PT) 1) What's the main question being asked or hypothesis being tested in this study? The movies which main character is a woman are better than those which main character is a man. 2) Describe the key dependent variable(s) specifying how they will be measured. I am going to use the IMDB rating. I will use the 100 last movies. 3) How many and which conditions will participants be assigned to? I will compare two group: movies which main character is a woman versus those which main character is a man. 4) Specify exactly which analyses you will conduct to examine the main question/hypothesis. I will do a t-test with independent means (alpha of 0,05) 5) Any secondary analyses? 6) How many observations will be collected or what will determine sample size? No need to justify decision, but be precise about exactly how the number will be determined. I’ll design a study with 95% power because I want to be sure that if there is an effect I will find it. Assuming the true effect medium (d =0.50), and with an alpha of 0,05 the power analyses estimate for a t-test of two-sided that I will need 105 movies with a woman as a main character and 105 movies with a man as a main character (210 in total). 7) Anything else you would like to pre-register? (e.g., data exclusions, variables collected for exploratory purposes, unusual analyses planned?) 8) Have any data been collected for this study already? No, no data have been collected for this study yet Version of AsPredicted Questions: 1.05 Available at https://aspredicted.org/i2zt7.pdf (Permanently archived at http://web.archive.org/web/*/https://aspredicted.org/i2zt7.pdf)
