Parents’ Natter Group
Thank you to all parents who joined us in our Nursery Natter
meetings. It was good to hear all the things you feel we do well in the
Nursery and what you would like to see improved.
We look forward to working with you again in the new session and to
hopefully meet some new parents too. Thank you for your support.
FUN DAY!
We are looking forward to this years’ summer fun day on Friday 23rd June
Which is on the same day as the schools Termtacular. We will be having some
Magical entertainment with Leigh Milne, a yummy party snack, fun outdoor activities
and lots more!
Once Upon Our Time and Graduation
Our Graduation is nearly here and the children are practising hard for their
last nursery performance and are getting excited about the big celebrations!
A few reminders for the big day on Monday 19th June. “Once Upon Our Time” will be at
9.30am in the school hall followed by tea and coffee before the Graduation at 10.45am.
All children will return to the nursery after the ceremony and can
be collected at the normal time at 11.45am.
There will be NO morning session for children not attending school in August (ante-pre)
but children are invited to join the afternoon session if they wish.
Teddy Toddle!
Well done to all the boys and girls who took part in the nursery Teddy Toddle. It was a great day and
fun was had by all! Everyone enjoyed a walk round the school, going on a bear hunt and a tasty teddy
bears picnic in the sunshine!
We raised an amazing £1000. A big thank you to all who sponsored the boys and girls!
We have purchased new resources including a water tray and comfy story corner cushions.
Feel free to come in and have a look the next time you are in the nursery.
What we’ve been learning
The children in the nursery have been enjoying learning all about ‘The Environment’. We have
been investigating different ways that we can help look after our environment by being ‘ecofriendly’. The children have been learning what it means to ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ through
taking part in fun games outside and have had the opportunity to show their understanding by
playing our new ‘eco’ board game. Children have been keen to discuss different ways in which
they recycle at home and have been actively involved in recycling in the nursery through
different sorting activities. We will be moving on to learning about what happens to our rubbish
when it is taken away by the bin men.
We have enjoyed taking our learning outdoors this month. We have been investigating ‘wind
power’ and have loved seeing how the wind makes different items such as feathers and paper
move. The children have made their own parachutes and tried to estimate how far they would
travel in the wind. Children have also been finding out about wind turbines. They were
intrigued to discover that these create energy and this is what helps give us electricity in our
houses to make our televisions and lights work! We have been discussing the importance of
trying to save energy by switching lights off and not leaving taps running.
The role play area in the playroom has been transformed into a ‘Weather Station’ this month
with our very own wind turbine which was designed and built by the nursery children. The
children have also been finding out about different types of weather and have enjoyed
matching up the weather to the correct type of clothing.
Sun Cream
Safety notice!
Sun cream is available for all children in the
cloakroom. Parents are welcome to help
themselves and apply to children at the start of
the session when dropping children off. Staff will
reapply when necessary.
It’s a concern children are coming into nursery
and sharing food with other children. Please
ensure your child brings no food into nursery as
there are many different allergies.
House Badges
Trays and Bags
New house badges are available from in the
nursery at a cost of 50p each please speak to a
member of staff if you wish to purchase a new
one. Children gain a point for their house each
day they wear their badge.
As the end of term approaches please ensure
your child’s tray and bags on their pegs are
emptied before the last day. Thank you.
