Information
We still need your help!
It is our aim to provide every secondary school in each county with at least one STEM Ambassador experience per year. At present 63% of our Cambs. and Beds. Schools are engaging
with the scheme but we need to get as close as possible to 100% before the end of this school year. This is a key aim of the Department for Education and the Department for
Business, Innovation and Skills, the two Government bodies which finance the Ambassador programme.
Thank you to everyone who has already contacted us and offered to support particular schools. If you haven’t yet had the chance to get in touch, please do so now! Your input could
be to give talks about your work and careers in science, technology, engineering or mathematics and / or support project work and practical activities in class and during STEM Clubs.
You can even support schools remotely by reviewing student project work or through video conferencing and Skype.
We would greatly appreciate your help in bringing the benefits of the STEM Ambassador Programme to every school and therefore opportunity to every pupil.
As Ambassadors you make a fantastic contribution to the education of this generation of pupils and you inspire tomorrow’s STEM professionals who will follow in your footsteps.

We are working with St Alban’s Primary school in Cambridge over science week to inspire their
pupils with STEM! We will be running our robotics activities – the jitterbot and hexapod robot
and undertaking investigations with pupils using the ‘properties of light’ kit from the Ogden
Trust. We would like ambassador support for each of these activities and further offers of IT
and systems and control activities suitable for primary school pupils.

Nuffield Research Students - available to help you and your Company.
17-18
Nuffield Students are AS level students who are funded by the Nuffield Foundation to work for
4 weeks during the summer (although an earlier time frame may be possible) with you on any
research project. The projects may be laboratory based or could be data handling and analysis
or a feasibility study. Students can be placed in any University Department or any Company and
in some cases the project may be done off site. The students are highly motivated and produce
work of excellent to outstanding quality. We monitor and support the students throughout.
The Nuffield scheme is highly regarded and runs on the basis that it is a win-win process for
both the student and host. Contact us for details and to discuss any ideas and options you have.
If you are interested in this but cannot commit to 4 weeks, we also place students for 2-3 weeks
through the British Science Association Gold CREST Awards with very similar outcomes.
