LUSL Officials Guide 2016/17 This document defines the officials requirements for the London Universities Sport Leagues (LUSL) 2016/17 season. If you have any queries please get in touch with the BUCS office at Email: [email protected] Tel.: 0207 633 5080 Definition of qualified and licensed: Officials must be recognised by their respective UK National Governing Body as being qualified to officiate. Officials must hold valid insurance and qualifications must be up to date. Definition of Neutrality: Neutral shall be taken to mean not being a current student, a full or part time member of staff, a member of the team or club* or Athletic Union of the institution concerned, or being closely related to any member of the team. . *A member of the club shall be taken to mean any player, coach, elected officer or team official. In LUSL, officials do NOT need to meet this definition of neutrality at any level. Definition of apprentice level: An individual, who is an experienced and competent player, fully versed in the rules of the game and has started their training towards a qualification. All must be qualified and licensed. Intermediate and Recreational: In cases where there is one umpire lacking, a player from the home side must stand down in order to officiate. Where there are no umpires available, one player from each side must stand down in order to officiate. During the match at least one person is to complete the score sheet accurately as the match progresses and keep time.
