Vocabulary Vine…
Grab a notecard when you enter. Think about what the word on the
card means (feel free to look it up if you need to). We are going to
connect all of the vocabulary words in a vocabulary vine.
Good Move!
When movement is connected to learning, it is a Good Move!
Workshop Objectives:
After experiencing Purposeful Planned Movement (PPM) in today’s
workshop you will:
Identify 3 different types of Good Moves to purposefully plan
movement in your classroom.
Create Good Moves to teach content in your classroom
Write out at least 5 activity breaks, 3 gestures, and 1 role play that
will be Good Moves for your classroom
1. Grab a marker
2. Read the quote
3. Write a response –
statement or question
4. Move to the next one
5. Read what others
said
Check out the statements
about movement that are
posted around the room.
6. Write a response –
answer, statement, or
question
7. Continue…
Go stand next to the statement that
spoke the most to you. Be prepared to
share your thoughts.
Return to your seat and
write your favorite
statement about
movement at the top
of your paper.
Record and
Reflect…

For gestures remember…
1. The movement should
clearly connect to the
meaning of the word,
concept, or phrase, and the
students should be able to
explain the connection.
Can be used for:
Vocabulary
Phrase to remember
Contractions
Syllable Types
Steps for…
Possessives
2. Appropriate a movement
for each syllable if it is a
vocabulary word.
3. Use the gesture every time
you say the word, concept, or
phrase.
Come up and grab another note card.
Look at the vocabulary words written on the board to
identify your word part.
Find the rest of the syllables in your word.
As a group, figure out a gesture for the word.
Remember: The gesture must connect to the word to
make it a Good Move, and you need a slight
movement for each syllable in the word.
Be prepared to share.
