New Mexico Scholars
The objective and purpose of the New Mexico Scholars Program is to encourage outstanding New
Mexico high school graduates to attend college in New Mexico. This scholarship makes it possible for
New Mexicans to pursue their studies and develop their talents at New Mexico institutes of higher
education which will benefit both the student and the state of New Mexico.
Eligibility Requirements:
 New Mexico high school graduate
In the top 5% of class either junior or senior year
or
An ACT score of 25 or higher
 Enroll in a New Mexico institution prior to 22nd birthday
 Citizen of the United States or a or an eligible non-citizen
 Resident of New Mexico
 Have a total combined family income of less than $60,000 as determined by the FAFSA or
otherwise documented
How to Apply:
Be admitted to CNM with a financial aid eligible major then submit this New Mexico Scholars
Application with attached documentation that applies:
 Official record of ACT score of 25 or higher
or
 High school transcript indicating rank in class either junior or senior year
Duration of Eligibility:
New Mexico Scholars may be re-awarded for up to two years at a two-year institute to a student who:
 Maintains satisfactory academic progress (SAP)
 Complete 24 credits each academic year
 Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
This scholarship may be renewed at a four-year institute for additional two years; in no case shall a
student receive more than four annual awards. Each scholarship is awarded for a period of one
academic year.
