PowerPoint 2013

Navigating Microsoft PowerPoint 2013
Start Screen
Instead of the blank presentation you started with in
PowerPoint 2010, this Start screen is packed with
options including a range of templates. The Start screen
is a link to a list of recently accessed PowerPoint files
and an Open Other Presentations link which you use to
access files on disk.
Better Drawing Tools
In PowerPoint 2013, the Join, Combine, Fragment,
Intersect and Subtract tools are accessible by selecting
the Drawing Tools, Format tab and clicking the Merge
Shapes button. To see Drawing tool option, you must
select the shape you want to format from the slide.
Presenter View
Theme Variations
Themes now come with a set of variations. PowerPoint
2013 provides new widescreen themes along with
standard sizes. Choose a theme and variant from the
start screen or from the Design tab.
Presenter View allows you to see your notes on your
monitor while the audience only sees the slide. In
previous releases, it was difficult to figure out who saw
what on which monitor. The improved Presenter View
fixes that and makes it simpler to work with.

Insert a Video
PowerPoint 2013 supports additional video formats so it's
more likely videos play in your presentation without the
need to install additional codecs. The MP4 and MOV
formats are now supported for playing video. The new
Video button on the INSERT tab includes options that let
you search for a video from an online source and drop it
onto your slide without first downloading it to your
computer.
Insert a Hyperlink to a video from a website: Copy the
website address from the chosen video. Select the text and
right click, from the menu select Hyperlink. In the window
that appears, select the External button, then at the
bottom paste in the website address and click the OK.
