Overview: Northern State University (NSU, in Aberdeen, South Dakota) offers a
four-week ESL program. The program cost is approximately US$5,000-6,000
(NT$150,000-180,000). The program offers complete service, where NSU will pick
the students up at the MSP airport, bring them to campus, orient them, conduct classes,
offer trips to scenic areas within the state, and return students to the MSP airport.

Program Name: Summer Academic English Program (AEP)
Program Site: Aberdeen, SD 57401, United States
Duration: July 20, 2015 (recommended arrival on the 16th) – August 14, 2015 (20 days
of instruction (four weeks))
Maximum No. of Students: 50 (more possible, but more advanced notice needed)
Certificate: Summer Academic English Program Certificate
Course Information: The course is full-time, Monday through Friday, with
approximately 20 hours of classroom instruction per week. Depending on needs,
classes cover academic reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and TOEFL
preparation. Cultural classes can focus on U.S. culture, oral communication, and

Lodging: Room rate from $450 per month for a double (2 beds for 2 students and 1
bathroom) up to $700 for a single suite (1 bed for 1 person and one private bathroom).
All dormitory buildings come equipped with a full shared kitchen, game rooms, and
common lounge with cable TV.
Entertainment: NSU can arrange activities such as visits to Minneapolis, Mt.
Rushmore (and Crazy Horse), and Badlands National Park, at a discounted student
rate.
Minneapolis is a large Midwestern
town located on the Mississippi River,
with population of almost four
million people, providing museums,
music, restaurants, sightseeing, and
much more.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is visited by nearly three million people each
year that come to marvel at the majestic beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota and
learn about the birth, growth, development and preservation of the country.
Crazy Horse Memorial is the
world’s largest mountain sculpture,
carving a memorial to the spirit of
legendary Lakota leader Crazy
Horse and his culture. Sculptor
Korczak Ziolkowski and Lakota
Chief Henry Standing Bear
officially started Crazy Horse
Memorial June 3, 1948. The
Memorial’s mission is to honor the culture, tradition and living heritage of North
American Indians.
The rugged beauty of the
Badlands draws visitors from
around the world. These striking
geologic deposits contain one of
the world’s richest fossil beds.
Ancient mammals such as the
rhino, horse, and saber-toothed
cat once roamed here. The park’s

244,000 acres protect an expanse of mixed-grass prairie where bison, bighorn sheep,
prairie dogs, and black-footed ferrets live today.

1) Round- trip airfare (Taoyuan,Taiwan to
Minneapolis-St. Paul, USA)
2) Ground-trip expenses (this will depend on the number
of students). A bus can be arranged from Minneapolis
airport to/from Northern State University to save on
airline costs for about $50 per person as well.
