Sheet C01-02 Site Utility Plan, there is an 8” SAS line in bold along bottom of entire length of parking. Is this to be new or existing, not keynote indicated, but since it’s bold to me seems it’s a new line. Please clarify. A. The 8” SAS line shown in bold at the bottom of sheet C01-02 is a new line extension. It connects to the existing manhole and 12” SAS line to the east. 2. Sheet A00-07 Site Demo at the existing drive loop does not indicate to remove asphalt but on sheet A00-08 Site plan it shows new sidewalk. Is the new sidewalk to go on top of existing asphalt? Please clarify. A. No, the new hardscape; sidewalk and/or pavers, is not to be placed on top of the asphalt. Remove asphalt and install sidewalks and hardscape according to the standards and construction practices outlined in the civil engineering drawings and specifications. 3. Sheet A00-07 Site Demo at the South West corner, is that hatched area existing sidewalk to be removed. No keynote referenced? A. See attached plan. 4. Sheet A00-07 Site Demo keynote 8 – existing trees to remain. What is this purpose? Keeping these few trees will be hard since they are right in the pathway for access to construction of the new building. A. The College has chosen as part of its environmental stewardship plan for the project to conserve existing natural areas and restore damaged areas to provide habitat and promote bio-diversity. As part of the LEED Silver designation required for the project, the trees are to remain. Addendum No. 1 10/31/08 Page 1 5. Sheet A00-08 Site Plan keynotes 4, 7, 10, 20 where not shown. Are these items not in this project? Please clarify. A. Keyed notes apply to all plan sheets, therefore individual notes may not apply to all sheets. 6. Sheet A00-09 Site Details D4 at Courtyard notes stairs, how many stairs are there? Is there handrails? Please clarify? A. There are three stairs. There are no handrails. Refer to civil drawings for grade change in the courtyard area. 7. Sheet A00-08 Site Plan Keynote 3 – Bike Rack Parking area, How deep is the concrete pad to be? Is there reinforcing? How many total bike racks is there suppose to be? No detail shown or referenced. A. The concrete pad for the bike rack parking area should be constructed with a thickened slab of 6 inches; 6” thick w/6 x 6-w4.0 x w4.0 extending two feet beyond the bike racks to accommodate the bike rack anchorage. 8. Sheet A00-08 Site Plan Keynote 21 – Loading Area concrete Pad, How deep is the concrete pad to be? Is there reinforcing? No detail shown or referenced. A. This should be a thickened slab of 8 inches w/#4 bars 12” o.c. each way top and bottom. 9. Sheet A00-08 Site Plan at the west side of Library in the landscaping area shows a line going along building to ramp entrance and continuing along north of ramp, What is this? Is it a low site planter wall? Please clarify and provide a detail. A. This line represents the edge of the ramp. 10. Sheet A00-08 Site Plan nor sheet L02-01 does not indicate for landscaping behind the Trash Enclosures. Is there no landscaping in this area. Please clarify? A. There is no landscape planting directly behind the trash enclosures. Provide Santa Fe Brown 1” – 1 ½” gravel 3” depth over Dewitt Pro 5 Filter Fabric. 11. Sheet A00-08 Site Plan keynote 16 – new 8’w asphalt path area falls outside of the property line and scope of work boundary. Is that area not part of this project? A. The portion of the path that extends from the property line to the existing parking lot should be included as part of the scope of work. If the college needs to complete an agreement to build this portion of the path, it will do so during project construction. 12. Sheet A00-08 Site Plan keynote 26 states new curb. There is no detail. Is this to be curb & gutter or standup curb? A. This is to be curb & gutter. 13. Question: Specifications 002000-3 Bid Response Form, Subcontractor Listing: The listing threshold states $5,000. Is this correct? A. According to CNM, the correct listing threshold is $50,000. 14. Specification 001000-8 Instructions to Bidders, 1.10 Subcontract Payment and Performance Bonds states that effective June 17, 2005 subcontractors shall provide bond if contract is over $50,000, this was changed to $125,000 in 2006. Please clarify. A. $50,000 is correct. Whether or not the New Mexico Procurement Code has been updated, CNM’s policy remains that all entities and persons doing business with CNM shall comply with SB 814. 15. Who is responsible for the testing? Specification 003000-55 states Contractor shall bear the costs, and a couple of sentence later says the Owner shall bear the costs. Specification 0140005 Quality Control states the Owner will engage a testing agency. Specification 033000-15 Concrete doesn’t say who is responsible. Specification 042000-14 Masonry states by Owner. Specification 051200-7 Steel states by Owner. Specification 312000-3 Earth Moving states by contractor. Specification 321216-2 Asphalt Paving states by contractor. Please clarify. A. All testing to be contracted by the Owner. Addendum No. 1 10/31/08 Page 2 16. Section 001000-1 1.1-C states that the prime contractor shall have a GA-98 license. Shouldn’t this be a GB-98 license? A. Yes. That was a typo it should read GB-98. 17. The notes that we have from the pre-bid meeting states that the listing threshold is currently $5,000.00 but will be amended to be $50,000.00. If the estimate is $25,000,000, than the listing threshold should be $125,000. A. Response from item no. 13 above, according to CNM, the correct listing threshold is $50,000. 18. Regarding specified site amenities (trash/ash receptacles). I could not locate the model number for these products, in either plans or specs. Is it possible to include this in the addendum that’s to be issued? A. Specification section 12 93 00 Site Furnishings attached for clarification. 19. Clarifications from the Pre-bid Meeting: A. The Fundamental Commissioning agent is Testmarc. Testmarc is already under contract with CNM for this service. Currently, the College is not obtaining wervices for enhanced commissioning. B. Utility fees will be paid by CNM C. State permit fees will be paid by CNM. D. A water utility easement has been completed between CNM and the City of Albuquerque during the construction document phase of the project. E. The distance between Phoenix and Albuquerque was questioned. Phoenix is 420 miles from Albuquerque. A 500-mile radius map in relation to Albuquerque is attached. F. Part of the existing ball field may be used for construction staging space. G. Street and parking lot access may be closed at times for the utility installation. School breaks should be used for such closures. H. Sign-in sheet from pre-bid meeting attached. 20. I have some questions about the boilers specified for CNM Student Resource Center, B-1,2, and 3: The Ray Pak model H2342BE is 87% AFUE; however the natural gas output shown in the schedule is for the H2342B at 84% AFUE. Is the intent of the design to require 87% or 84%? Since the Ray Pak model H2342B is de-rated 4% per thousand feet of elevation, the output of each boiler will be 1,550,780 at 5280ft. Since the Lochinvar model CHN2071 Copper-Fin II, is de-rated 2% per thousand feet of elevation, the output of the boiler will be 1,573,696 at 5280ft. Will the lesser input of the Lochinvar CHN2071 of 2,070,000 be considered an equal? A. The boiler specified for the project as selected has no de-rating up to 5000 feet. There would be little to no de-rating for this boiler at 5280 feet. 87% boiler efficiency was used to achieve the LEED points in the project energy model. The boiler provided should be 87% AFUE. 21. In reviewing the specifications with a mason contractor that plans on participating in the bid process we ran into a few snags for which we need clarification. First the Korfil insulation for the 2-3/4 Emperor brick, after speaking with CBIS Korfil they only make a insulation insert for CMU and not for brick, nothing close that would fit the holes in the brick. The other issue is a discrepancy in the size of the brick. In section 042000-unit masonry 2.5. B-2 the size is 2-3/4” Emperor. The instructions for color and finishes takes us to Div 9 where the size is indicated as a 2-1/4” Emperor. A. The updated specification section is attached. Korfil has been deleted for brick and the 2 ¼” emperor brick is the correct size. All other specifications, terms and conditions remain unchanged. Bidders are required to acknowledge receipt of this Amendment in the space provided on Section 00200-1.
