SUBJECT:
Amendment #2 to T-2756 “CNM’s Re-cabling SB, TC & KC Hall”
This amendment becomes part of the Contract Documents and modifies the original bidding documents
as noted below:
1. General Notes Sheet: Note # 47‐ Patch cords shall be furnished and installed by Owner IT department. In project manual section 270000‐2 N. 3 and 4 states …”Contractor shall furnish 2 Cat 6 data patch cords for each workstation location. 4 Contractor shall furnish and install 1 Cat 6 patch cord for each patch panel port.” Which note is applicable? Each note further states you want unit pricing for 1,3 and 5 meter cables. Where do you want this priced and itemized? Answer #1: Contractor is directed to include as part of your overall bid per building to provide a 1 meter and a 3 meter patch cord with boots for 33% of the total number of cable drops installed per building. CNM will install the patch cables. 2. General. Are the bid response forms available electronically? Answer #2: No. 3. General. Is the buildings asbestos free? Answer #3: Yes. 4. General. Ceiling outlets are indicated on the drawings are they for the WAP’s the walkthrough on Friday there was indication that the WAP’s are another project. Drawings are not omitting them in any of the buildings or are they just projector locations? Answer #4: Ceiling outlets can be used for WAPS or projectors and are to be installed where shown. 5. General. Is this contract to include fire stopping existing telecom pathways and pathways after removal of old cable? Amendment 2 06/19/09

Answer #5: Yes, the Fire Marshall expects the installation contractor to seal existing as well as new by stating it is “the responsible thing to do” on other projects. No reason to 6. General. Are patch cords to be provided in the base bid or as add alternate? Patch cords in the specifications are listing a variety of sizes with and without boots. What specific cords should be bid quantity and type? Answer #6: See answer above. 7. General. Is rerouting or extending existing backbone cabling in the new telecom rooms to be included in this project? Answer #7: The existing Telecom Rooms and their backbone cables are to remain intact, no rerouting. This project requires extending fiber and/or copper from the existing TR’s to the new TR locations. Exception: There is a requirement to pull back fiber on the roof of Smith Brasher and to reinstall that fiber in new, existing conduit. Please review Section 270000 Smith Brasher Hall for a detailed description of that unique requirement. 8. What are the expected completion dates of each building? Answer #8: To be determined after contract award. Project Manual does address the schedule issue. 9. Can more detail be given on the wire molding in each building? The drawing does not address where it is to be installed new and what is existing that is to remain and be used for the new cable or is the two channel to be installed in every location regardless? Answer #9: The Contractor needs to understand that the intent of this project is to install a parallel cable plant system while leaving the existing cable plant intact until cutover. That means that all new cable plant (cable, outlets, molding) will be installed in new molding to new outlet locations. Therefore, the contractor will need to ensure their bids take into account enough two‐channel molding to complete the project. Change Orders for additional molding will not be accepted unless specific changes directed by CNM ITS are issued to the Contractor. 10. Can boxes be cut in to the sheet rock instead of the use of molding? Answer #10: No. The molding is used to facilitate the changing dynamic in the labs. If a particular instructor wants to rearrange the room, the molding and outlets should be able to accommodate that rotation with little to no changes (requiring changes to patch cord lengths only). 11. The 2nd cable of each wall‐phone not terminated is it terminated in the TR’s? Answer #11: All cables will be terminated at both ends. Refer to Amendment #1, Question response #12 addresses this. 12. Pertains to Ted Chavez Hall (Not KC as referenced in original question): Amendment #1 question 7 answer 8 is still confusing. T02‐01A: example room T102 open office that we are assuming is a future lab. Excluding the wall‐phone outlet and workroom area there are 7 locations of 3 cables for a total of 21 cables. There is a note in the middle of the room directing the remaining 12 cables to remain in the ceiling. The room already exceeds the 14 per lab from note 8 So this room gets 33 total cable? Answer #12: There are three types of rooms in Ted Chavez Hall: Administration, Classrooms and Labs. T102 is an Admin area, not a lab. The additional cables are planned to be installed at workstation locations that are not yet identified (assumed to be installed in the future in power poles to systems furniture but not part of this contract). The design of that remodeled space was not available during the design process so we provided additional capacity in that one space alone. All other spaces referencing coiled cables are currently labs, or spaces that can be converted into a lab. 13. Smith Brasher: If power is attached to the existing cable tray are we only removing the telecom cable not the tray’s? Answer #13: There is no existing cabletray in Smith Brasher. The question is not clear. Amendment 2 06/19/09

14. Smith Brasher: The conduit for the rerouting of the fiber optic cable on the roof is being provided by others to the telephone pole? Answer #14: The conduit is already installed and vacant. The fiber needs to be pulled back on the roof to the point of entry to the new conduit and then reinstalled in the new conduit back to the original Telecom Room. 15. Ted Chavez: Are conduit paths being provided in TC to protect the cable in the automotive section as part the separate contract? Answer #15: No conduit is required. 16. Ted Chavez: Reference drawings A‐103 and E‐101: The telecom room build outs for all electrical, structural, backboard, etc. is being provided by the other contract? Answer #16: All work reflected on A‐103 and E‐101 is part of this contract. There is no structural work or mechanical work to be performed under this contract. The room is an existing space but needs to be architecturally finished and supplied with power as shown. The Bid Form clearly shows line items for Architectural Mods and Electrical Mods for Ted Chavez Hall. 17. Ted Chavez: Are conduit sleeve through the hallways to the classrooms part of the other contract? Answer #17: Yes. Cabletray and conduit shown in main corridors that interconnect the TR’s are provided by others and is not part of this contract. Room penetration sleeves into each space are provided by others. 18. Bid due date and time remains the same June 26, 2009 3:00PM local time.
All other specifications, terms and conditions remain unchanged. Bidders are required to acknowledge
receipt of this Amendment in the space provided on Section 00200-1.
