Faculty Checklist for Scheduling Field Study Courses
(To be Performed in the Order Presented Prior to Scheduling Courses)
For Fall Courses: The following checklist needs to be completed by December of
the preceding year
For Spring Courses: The following checklist needs to be completed by June of
the preceding year
 Review “Travel Course University-Wide Guidelines” (obtainable from CIBD).
 Consult with relevant department chair(s) regarding course content and other
academic considerations. Submit detailed proposal for academic approval
including preliminary travel itinerary and academic objectives, along with
“Faculty Application for International Field Study Course” (obtainable from
CIBD) to department chair(s).
 Select secondary instructor. This instructor will be joining the group for the travel
portion of trip but not receiving load reduction.
 Consult with CIBD regarding dates of travel, fees and payment schedule, class
scheduling, and all other logistics. Work with CIBD to ensure that class listings
for on-line registration accurately reflect these items. Approval by the appropriate
Associate Dean follows, once class schedule proofs are submitted.
** Note: Running the course is contingent on enrollment numbers meeting
required budgetary constraints.
 Upon official course approvals, work with CIBD to develop promotional
materials, track enrollment, determine final itinerary details of trip and obtain
budget certification.
