Pace Performing Arts offers BFA and BA programs that balance strong academics with conservatory-style training and prepare our
graduates to enter the workplace as knowledgeable, disciplined artists devoted to the integrity, pursuit, and preservation of their
craft. Dedicated to providing the finest professional training, we offer programs in Acting, Musical Theater, Commercial Dance,
Directing, and Production & Design. With more than 40 productions a year, rigorous studio teaching by working professionals and
access to the professional world, Pace Performing Arts is a center of excellence in undergraduate education. In 2013, Pace Performing Arts
moved into its new home, a state-of-the-art facility in Lower Manhattan, just two blocks from the campus center.

CURRICULUM
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting
is a competitive and comprehensive preprofessional program consisting of four
years of intensive studio acting training
accompanied by requirements in movement,
vocal production and speech, theater
history, stage combat, acting for film and
TV, business of acting and more.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Musical
Theater is an elite, pre-professional
intensive training program. Students are
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in
Commercial Dance is the first of its kind
in New York City, designed to prepare
students for careers in the entertainment
industry — Broadway, television, or film.
Students take four years of courses in ballet,
modern, jazz, theater dance, contemporary,
hip hop, tap, aerials, acting, and body
awareness. Commercial Dance majors are
also required to take Acting and Voice Class.
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Directing
The BA in Directing program prepares
students to work as stage directors with
a degree that provides a strong foundation
in narrative storytelling and dramatic
action. The training process is projectoriented, professionally-mentored, and
encourages creative new talents to develop
their own vision for the theater of tomorrow
by working closely with actors, designers,
playwrights, and technicians.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Production
& Design for Stage & Screen provides preprofessional training in the techniques and
crafts that support theater, dance, film,
and television production. Fields of
specialization include scenery, costumes,
stage management, lighting, sound, and
media. Our faculty is comprised of working
artists who work closely with students
both in and outside the classroom to
develop engaged and technologically
sophisticated designers and craftspeople.
With over 40 productions every year in
multiple on and off campus venues, students
have many opportunities for hands-on
participation in realized production.

The new state-of-the-art home for
Pace Performing Arts opened in 2013
at 140 William Street, a seven-story,
47,000-square-foot building. The building
includes acting, movement and dance
studios as well as a soundstage and
screening room. Additionally, it houses
costume and scene shops, a digital design
lab, and multiple performance spaces.
Pace students also perform in the Michael
Schimmel Center for the Arts, Schaberle
Studio Theater, Off-Broadway, Layton
Dance Studio and Mainframe Studio.

TELEVISION
Pace Performing Arts offers one of the
nation’s busiest and diverse production
calendars with more than 40 performance
opportunities per academic year. Pace
produces four full-length musicals and
four full-length plays per year. The program
also supports the New Works Initiative,
Pace Directors’ Festival, Pace New Musicals,
dance concerts, and two student-run
production companies.
