ACCELERATED DEGREE
PROGRAMS
Whether your interest lies in journalism, creative writing, literature, publishing,
law, or teaching, the English Department on Pace University’s New York City
campus offers a BA in English with three concentrations, which allows you the
ability to double major in related fields. Minors in Creative Writing and Journalism
are offered. You may also apply for the accelerated BA in English/MS in
Publishing program. Our program will help you open doors in virtually any field, such
as journalism, publishing, communications, business, the arts, law, and education.
As one of our majors, you will be guided by our outstanding faculty who are authors,
editors, and world-renowned scholars with diverse research interests and expertise.
And you will have the opportunity to learn from prominent poets and authors
who visit campus, publish your own work in Aphros, our literary magazine, and
gain hands-on experience working on The Pace Press, our undergraduate
student newspaper. We offer a mentoring program, internship opportunities,
and an annual writing contest. Whether you are an English major or take our
courses as part of the Core Curriculum, you will develop skills that are in demand
in today’s competitive job market: top-notch writing, insightful critical analysis,
and clear, organized thinking.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE, BA – LITERATURE
CONCENTRATION
Our dedicated scholars devote their individual attention and resources to guiding
students in the analysis of great works of British and American literature. The
concentration provides excellent preparation for graduate study in English,
law, or humanities.
ENGLISH, BA/ADOLESCENT
EDUCATION, MST
This combined degree program
leads to a Bachelor of Arts in English
from the Dyson College of Arts
and Sciences and Masters of Science
for Teachers in Adolescent Education
(Grades 7-12) from Pace University’s
School of Education. Candidates will
fulfill the requirement for the initial
and professional certificates in
English.
ENGLISH, BA/PUBLISHING, MS
Students in the undergraduate
English Language and Literature,
BA – Writing and Literature
Concentration may apply for the
combined English, BA/Publishing, MS
which enables students to complete
both degrees in five years.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE, BA – WRITING AND
LITERATURE CONCENTRATION
In addition to studying literature, students write news stories, feature articles, poetry,
fiction, nonfiction, and screenplays under the guidance of faculty members
who are noted New York writers.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE, BA – LITERATURE AND
CULTURE CONCENTRATION
In this interdisciplinary track, students take courses in Women’s and Gender Studies,
Film and Screen Studies, Cultural Studies, as well as writing and literature. This
also allows students to double-major in these related fields.
