CURRICULUM
From the Human Genome Project
to the ethical issues of stem cell
research, from bioterrorism to the
conservation of natural resources,
biological and environmental
sciences are in the forefront of
today’s headlines. Our combined
Biology and Environmental Science
degree program prepares you to be
on the cutting edge of these critically
important fields.
In just five years, you can earn two
degrees – a Bachelor of Science in
Biology and a Master of Science in
Environmental Science. With two
degrees you not only have the
credentials to become a leader in the
field, but you will also have the
education and experience to help
solve the pressing environmental
problems of today and tomorrow.
In total, the combined degree program
consists of approximately 150 credits.
Students are required to complete
the necessary undergraduate core,
major and open elective credits in
addition to the 33-35 required and
elective credits in the Master of
Science in Environmental Science
program. Provided you have the
necessary prerequisites, graduate
level elective courses are taken in
place of some required undergraduate
electives. This enables full-time students
to save one year of full-time study.
You can apply for our five-year program
anytime during your freshman,
sophomore and junior years, and
after completion of at least 64
undergraduate credits and all major
biology courses. You must have a
cumulative QPA of 3.0 and a GPA of
3.0 in biology courses. You will also
need to provide a statement of career
goals and two letters of recommendation
from your biology professors.
