AMERICAN STUDIES | NYC/PLV REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE This major prepares graduates for rewarding careers with a variety of employers such as: The BA in American Studies focuses on the interdisciplinary study of American culture. Majors acquire many of the same skills which are gained in a traditional humanities or social science major, most notably analytical abilities and strong writing. Students gain the ability to make connections between diverse fields and subjects, a capacity for self-direction, and the ability to apply their skills to a variety of contemporary professional fields including: government, economics, social work, education, journalism, business, psychology, law, digital and print media, non-profit work, theater and the arts. CPJ monitors, advocates and protects press freedom around the world and on the internet. At CPJ, I helped launch a new web page for donations. I am also the point person for processing all incoming gifts, I manage our database, and organize large and small scale meetings. My role as the board liaison has allowed me to build relationships with our board members.
